| Anybody else watching? |
| Was just thinking about it. Is it good?? |
| VERY good. It is broken up into ten segments. I finished it all over the weekend. Fair warning though, parts of it are utterly heartbreaking. |
| I'm watching - I'm three episodes in. By this point in Serial, I was convinced of Adnan's guilt. I'm equally convinced of Avery's innocence. What do others think? |
I'm getting ready to start episode 9 and still convinced of his innocence. |
| I wish I had netflix because I really want to watch it. I've heard it's good. |

I have no idea what to think. I could believe that the key and blood were planted, but the burned bones? It seems really far fetched that someone would kill the woman, burn her body, take her remains back to the last place she was seen, where they just so happened to be burning other stuff on the day that she disappeared, plant the bones in the ashes of that fire, and then be fortunate enough to have the police help them along by planting blood in the victim's car and the victims key in somebody else's bedroom. I hated the cops and prosecutors after watching the show, but I just don't see how somebody could have pulled off this elaborate framing.
Now the nephew? I don't know if he was involved or not, but he was completely shafted by his own lawyer. That guy deserves a new trial. I have been practicing criminal law for 15 years, and I've never seen anything like that. |

I can see what you're saying about the bones, but remember they found bone pieces in another location as well, so it is a bit suspicious and perhaps points to them being moved. I absolutely think Lenk and Colborn had something to do with planting the evidence, including the vehicle (Colborn called in the plates... he HAD to have been in front of the car). Why is it that all of the incriminating evidence only showed up after Lenk or Colborn were in the house? They are shady as can be. Had Avery shot Theresa in his garage 11 times, there would have been blood splattered somewhere. His garage was a mess, there is NO way he could've cleaned up every speck of blood even with 5 days to do it. No DNA on the mattress, anywhere in the house.
Agree with you about Brendan deserving a new trial. His lawyer was basically building a case against him the whole time. Pathetic. |
| And Brendan's lawyer mugging for the camera! !! So smarmy and gross. Poor SOB...probably never been with a girl before and trying to figure out what the cops wanted him to say. No parent present, either |
| Who do you all like for the murder if it wasn't Steven and Brendan? I think Brendan's brother or stepdad could have done it. Also think they should've looked closer at people close to Theresa. Not sure I would buy that the cops did it, but Lenk and Colborn are shady as hell. |

Such a slog though ten episodes but impossible not to watch! Read up on this after I finished and the former prosecutor and others say the information is taken out of context. That may be true - I don't know. But even if Avery is guilty, it's impossible to believe that Dassey wasn't coerced into a false confession.
On another note, Penny Beerntsen was interviewed some time ago on Radiolab about having wrongly identified Steven Avery as her attacker. http://www.radiolab.org/story/278180-reasonable-doubt/ I have a lot of respect for her. She described the attack and it sounds like she did everything she could to fight the person off. She is devastated when she finds out she identified the wrong guy. What's interesting is that she seems to feel completely responsible while the documentary makers show how the police shaped her perception and holds them accountable. She meets with Avery and apologizes. Then she finds out about the murder and the producer describes Dassey's testimony as if it is true. Then Beernsten feels responsible for sending Avery to prison where he might have been made into a murderer. At any rate, I give her credit for talking to Radiolab about the false identification and for not flinching in examining her own involvement in this. After this year of videos and controversies and now this series, I will never look at law enforcement the same way again. |
I think Teresa's ex boyfriend or even the brother of Brendan's. Remembered random details on day before Theresa went missing, but not the last time he saw her alive?. Why did he offer that testimony and no record of him talking to the police? |
| ^^^^PP here. Ex bf didn't remember last time he saw Theresa. Brendan's brother no documentation talking to police. |
| One thing I noticed was how messy Steven's house was. But they didn't find any blood in the house. Now it may have been as a result of the searches but it looked like he was a bit of a slob. How then would he be so good at cleaning up the blood in that mess of a house? |
| Her throat was supposedly slit and shot twice in the head. Unless he's a Dexter, he didn't do it. |
