Parents: Hang up and drive!

You have car seats, now really practice safe driving and put your damn phone down. Modeling good behavior starts NOW.

Car crashes are the #1 cause of death for teens, so don't be total hypocrites and follow safe driving practices yourself:

Don't think that just b/c your kids are little they're not noticing what you do. Don't expect them to do anything different than the example you've set when they're old enough to drive.

Oh, yeah, and always buckle up. That really does save lives.

I'm gonna +1,000,000

I see about 40% of drivers talking/texting and driving one handed, weaving to the left left and right down a straight road, sitting at green lights...

Some one rear-ended my car about two years ago and they told me they'd been on the phone and weren't paying attention.

+1 Nothing like being run down by another daycare parent who is on the phone while I'm crossing with my kid with the light in the crosswalk.

Everyone hang up and drive!!! I yell at people all the time as a pedestrian for gabbing away and blowing through stop signs, making illegal lefts, ugh. It's terrifying. And they get really pissy instead of embarrassed or sheepish about it. You're doing something illegal and dangerous!

I'm really tempted to drive around with a cell phone jammer, but then I realized that would just make the problem worse b/c people would fiddle with their phones trying to figure out why they aren't working.

I do not often talk on the phone, but when I do, I use an earpiece.

I am shocked by all the parents who are militant about BFing and all organic products yet are willing to put their kids lives at risk by talking on the phone while driving (even if hands free).

Has nothing to do with looking important. I can multi task just fine though.

It would be interesting to see figures on the number of children in the US who die after eating non-organic food, or riding as lap children on planes, or from drinking formula, vs the number who die in car crashes in which their parent was a distracted driver.
