New to McLen Youth Soccer Tryouts - Predetermined Groupings?

Is this also true at U11? How many do they put on the roster for 9v9? Particularly interested for boys’ side.

We are not great on the boys side; much better on the girls. We were trying to improve in recent years, but kept losing players to BSC, Arlington and SYC. We’re trying to reboot, but lost ECNL (never had MLSN).

But our girls side is great. We have tow or three of the best girl teams in the area. If you’re looking for a female team, McLean is great. If you have a boy, best to try to get in early on one of the more established boy teams (Alex, Arl, or BSC).

With tryouts concluding Thurs night, should we assume all first team offers have gone out for the 2013 girls?

Didn't that group get around 120 kids?

Wow! That’s going to be a lot of money for MYS. Ca-Ching!!!

One of my kids is 2013. Most girls received their offers already. Anyone who hasn't is either out or teams are waiting for others to decline the offer.

120 kids show up for tryouts. Doesn't mean they make more teams. MYS doesn't do that because they don' have enough coaches. That's why there is a third tryout because they can't evaluate that many kids in two days. Number of teams is set along with roster size.

2013 Girls Green is top ranked in the nation. They have 15 players on their roster. But, DB is leaving for Loudoun so unsure how that impacts things even though CW stepped in. There were a lot of top players from other clubs trying out for green this week.

Will they play 11v11 or 9v9 next season? That presumably would affect roster size. 15 already is a lot for 9v9 and I doubt they will replace existing players when the team already is very strong and has great chemistry.

2013 is going to be U12 which is still 9v9. McLean is notorious for having big teams and having kids ride the bench the whole season. It's good for their program but bad for the individuals. You want player development (which you should at this age) find another team. You want a team that dominates while your kid plays for 5-10 minutes per game (if they're lucky) then by all means go to McLean and give them your time and money.

To clarify, 2013 Girls Green has 15 players. White has 12 and Gold has 12. MYS doesn't overload all their teams. However, with Green being a top ranked team it's smart to have 15 players for rotation, etc.

Really? I thought they were going to have 6 teams. Green, White, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Copper. Maybe maybe even a 7th Wood team.

But my daughter got an offer for 2013G Wood McLean. You’re telling me she’s on the 10th team. Well, hopefully she gets playtime.

2013G green has 15 players now, for U11 9v9? Are they increasing the roster for next season since they’re playing up U13 11v11?

Does anyone know if they send out a rejection email for closure? Will they send a generic "thanks but no thanks" or just ghost us?

2013 still plays 9v9 for another year. You have your years mixed up. 11v11 is in two years.
