The website about the kids at the schools is creepy. How can we get the "peoplesdirt.com" website taken down?

kids don't need a well designed website like that to post crap about other kids on line. In fact, they can just make their own website and do the same.

And they do let you post about businesses...makes me want to out my employeer and all the people I can't stand

this is absolutely terrible.

Notify your schools! This looks relatively new, not too many posts. Thanks so much for posting this!

Also, if you go to the home page, there is a petition to shut down the site. They claim that they will shut down the site if they got 1 million signatures. This is a strange one.

Hah! Creative way to drive traffic to their site. Get all their enemies to advertise for them. Since they control the petition, how much you want to bet it never reaches a million signatures?

I read some of the posts. The volume is under Montgomery County MD schools - public and private. I guess once it starts at a school it snowballs. Since many posts are about minors perhaps it is a different issue than the college website .

11:19 Absolutely. And interesting that the site hasn't caught on, and there's a post here. For once the parents are ahead of the curve. I've notified the head of my child's Middle School as well as some middle school teachers I know in the area.

Sheesh. Maybe the internet will blow up before my kid gets to high school?

Actually I think it's better now because there is so much awareness among parents and teachers. My child is 12 and boy the last year's been a rollercoaster. We've got strict parameters, no Facebook, the computer's in a main area of the home so no stealth surfing, etc.

Wrong. Most parents ignore and don't even know how to work facebook. Your child is young. Note most parental control programs only work on http not https so they can get on facebook via https or proxy sites as done in school. Peoples is fully googable-------------everything shows. If teachers and school adminstrators cared they would find it.

Do any laws protect the under 18 crowd? What do schools do when parents notify them about this sort of site?
