Please tell me about Thomas Edison school of Technology

Anyone knows how is the science program in this school, is it better/equal to W cluster school or the magnet schools in MCPS. Can anyone from any other high school go to Thomas Pyle for a year or two for advanced classes in STEM if they would have any ( since I don't know what is being offered to incoming high schoolers)

I think you mean Thomas Edison High School of Technology. Thomas Edison is the only high school in MoCo devoted to vocational training. It is also getting Wilson's old principal this year.

Yes it should have said Thomas Edison. I would like to get some comparisons on the courses offered at Thomas Edison vs. magnet or w cluster schools

The courses at Edison are more career focused. They aren't "pure" science. You might learn about how a computer works, and then actually learn how to fix a computer so you can work at Geek squad. The medical careers courses prepare kids to become nurses aides so they can work in that field while they attend HS.

It's a phenomenal program, but it's not comparable to a magnet program. It doesn't serve the same population of kids, or the same goals.

Here is their course catalog. Plumbing, air conditioning, auto repair, cosmetology, etc.

Most students attend nearby high schools (Wheaton High, Rockville High) and take classes at Edison School for their electives. I think it's great for a student to build a computer, build a car, learn how to set up the electric wires in a house and so on.
Some of these kids are working in science labs during the summer break.
