Does anyone love their child's pediatrician?

Anonymous
I have been very disappointed with my child's pediatrician. They have been alarmist when nothing is wrong and quite blasé when she really did need a specialist. For example, she had a horrible rash and they just kept telling me to put Aquaphor on it. People would cringe when they saw it and they never recommend seeing a specialist. It took me three months to get into a ped dermatologist since my ped didn't make any calls for me and within a week of seeing the specialist he rash was gone. On the other hand, my daughter had another issue and they made me go from specialist to specialist who made me feel like a paranoid mother for being there. I just don't have much confidence. I have seen specialists for her who are amazing and I am wondering I of there are peds who are that good. I live in Arlington but am willing to travel.

Hi OP

I love our Ped, but he's in Rockville and that is a haul for you. I would post your question on the General Parenting Board - I bet you'll have more luck there.

While we lived in Arlington, we went to Premier Primary Care and loved them.

These locations probably are a little too far for a general ped but I am convinced that the medical care in Maryland is better. The great specialists I have seen have all been in Rockville. I'll re-post in general parenting. Thanks.

I love Dr. Clapp at Capital Area Pediatrics, Sleepy Hollow office. Most of the dr's we've seen there have been good and the office staff is great but we always see Dr. Clapp for well viists and when we were trying to figure out a more complicated issue with DD.

Dr. Gandhi at Metropolitan Pediatrics in Arlington. We moved away a couple years ago, and I still miss him.

Dr. Miriam Toporowicz - Georgetown Peds is the best in the area. No nonsense and caring all at once.

OP here. Thanks, she sounds like what I'm looking for. I want someone really smart who gets you in to see the right people if necessary but who knows enough to know if specialists really are necessary. Not surprisingly nobody has recommended anyone from my peds office.
