Lottery Master Number

Anonymous
Did anyone else notice the new waitlists have your master lottery number? http://dcps.dc.gov/DCPS/Learn+About+Schools/Lottery+and+Admissions:+Apply+to+Our+Schools/Anonymized+Wait+Lists

It confirmed that we had an awful pull (0.92). In our child's daycare room, one child is first on the first for a popular school (0.06).

Another child got in to the same school for PK-4 (only non-sibling) so they must have had an amazing number. The first person on the waitlist has a 0.005.

Still cool to see, thanks DC!

Interesting. So at our IB school, which has a long IB and OOB waitlist, it looks like everyone who matched had a meh draw. The #1 kid who matched is .51. That makes me think the waitlist won't move much because those kids won't get in elsewhere.

We had .96 last year and .02 this year. Keep playing--with a # like that it can only get better!

This is so interesting! I'd love to see it all in a big apples to apples file, rather than have to pull down per school. (Hint: I'm a data geek)

I would say Capitol Hill Montessori would be one of those lists that may move a little quicker. Their waitlisters are in the 20% and higher.

How do you know what your number was last year?

+1. I am the OP and we had a terrible draw last year too but I do not know our number. The waitlists did not have this column last year. Unless it was somewhere else?

My guess for last year is that we were about .45, but I'd love to see the data if it's available.

Do they release this info for charters?

Nice product placement for Tableau Software there.

Am I missing the site where they published the lottery master number of those matched? I only see the waitlists.

One of the MV waitlists (maybe the first one) included the #. No surprise, we we were in the lowest 5% on all waitlists.

Where do you find the #?

Why does the number have so many digits?

Since you know what your number is on a given waitlist, you can look up your own master number.
If you're not on any waitlists, then you can only assume that you got a pretty good number.
