residency cheater

Anonymous
I just realized that a child in my kids' JKLM lives in Maryland.
Where do i report this?
I am going to type something up with all the appropriate addresses and info and send it to our principal.
Who do i send it to in DCPS central administration?

I will call today.

How do we know that not just one parent lives in Maryland while the other lives in DC? Stop being a snitch, OP!

Actually, I will call weekly until this child is removed.

This type of fraud (Marylander using a fake DC address) makes me crazy.

Why do you care what others are doing? How does it affect you? Do you have proof that this child has absolutely NO ties to DC?

My child's class is overcrowded.
I push hard on this one.

I hate this attitude PP, OP is perfectly within her rights to make sure that a MD family isn't stealing money and a spot from a kid that it should be serving. I'm not at JKLM, but as a DC taxpayer, I care.

Ok OP, I feel your point, but I'm curious as to how you KNOW this child lives in Maryland and has no parent or legal guardian living in DC?

NP here. OSSE can only act if it gets tips. If the family can prove residency, then it gets dropped. If there's fraud, then it should be caught and stopped.

In bounds or OOB? Why would an MD family send their DC to DCPS when MCPS has good options?
Anonymous
Not all cheaters live in MoCo. Not all MoCo schools are good options.

You do realize that MD is not JUST MOCO, right? PG is just as close and I'd bet that if there is truly a MD family there, they are from PG.

I would just be VERY SURE the student has no ties to your district. A friend of my childs got called on 4-5 times during a semester she was mainly staying with her grandmother because her mother was going through intensive chemo and as a family they all stayed at the childs grandparents house/mothers parents house. They lived in the appropriate district but when people say the grandmas car all the time at pick up with the wrong license plate they would call. I felt so bad for the mother and child because they were really trying to keep things low key and it turned into anything but.
