Vinci School in Alexandria reviews?

So I will say this...I would honestly only give weight to the reviews of people who's kids actually go there or went there. I mean this both ways.

There are some clearly artificial happy reviews online that I wouldn't put any value in because they are staged. That said...there are some happy reviews from parents whose kids actually went to VS and those I would pay attention to.

However, it's a two way street. There are some legitimate bad reviews from parents whose kids went to VS and I would pay attention to those...I would not put much weight in the negative reviews from people whose kids never went there...I don't care how many people you have called or who your friend is, positive or negative review, doesn't matter, I think we should focus on the parents who have actually had their kid enrolled at the school and what they have to say.

And this is from a parent whose child is NOT enrolled there (I'm not saying that negatively) I'm just saying I don't have any skin in the game.

Also is it just me or is the menu all carbs and not enough variety?

They were serving the kids Frosted Flakes this month...

Hi, does the Vinci school have an elevator in the building?

I’m not sure about Fairfax but the Duke St location does.

Can anyone confirm if they have older kids? As in elementary age? I saw on their website but...I've never seen older kids outside. Thank you!!

Just heard the parents booed "Dr." Dan at the student graduation concert this year.

Wait, what? Why?

She was booed because once again she lured parents into a graduation ceremony only to provide lectures on eating carbs. It's really not the place. The "graduation" is scheduled on a Friday before a holiday weekend and the owner monopolizes the time to discuss what a bad job parents are doing....

Graduation is a farce anyway - my child didn't change classrooms or teachers.

Turnover rate is EXTREMELY HIGH - we've been through 3 teachers each year for the past two years. Recently they let go of someone who took too much sick leave - that was a phenomenal teacher. They can't keep anyone around and it's disconcerting to children and parents.

I can't say enough that the curriculum is also a joke -it's all about tv. Or "smartboards' as they call them. Regardless the school is about 1% reggio or montesorri - kids are pulled out of watching tv/smartboard to do one reggio/monetesorri activity per day - they don't immerse themselves in any of these ideas.

Finally, we're on to our third administrator - first it was ms. becky, than another woman and now Ms Syvlia. I don't think Ms Sylvia has the personnel skills for this jobs and lacks overall communication skills ness for the job. She can be out right rude to parents and makes up rules when they are convenient.

All and all run - you're money is better spent elsewhere.

My son has been at VS since the beginning. We don't want to go anywhere else as he learned and progressed so much! The curriculum is phenomenal. Its unbelievable to hear the last comment. Some parents are hard to please and some parents can be just rude. We were there to hear about school updates like we do each year at the concert - it's important to know the upcoming changes and improvement. We may not all agree on the same thing for example I feel a lot better when the traffic spikes were installed as it kept the school yard safe, even though some parents find it inconvenient. But safety is the most important and the school did not hesitate to invest $5000 on it when parents brought up the issue - lucky for us to be here! Regarding teacher change, each year the school changes some teachers at the end of July. Some teachers are let go because they don't meet the standard - great for kids that expectations are set high on the staff. My son's class is moving up entirely with no family willing to look elsewhere - truthfully I know very few parents who aren't happy.

Is the Owner everyone is calling crazy Alisha Cole?

Vinci just did a surprise purchase of the Bright Horizon's branch my child goes to, notified on a Tuesday at 9pm, takes effect on Monday....

She came out to do a conversation about the new center and it was the least prepared and most disorganized conversation I've ever been a part of. My wife and I went to the session with an open mind and left furious that they would abruptly transition ownership of the facility and openly tell us that they hadn't yet discussed or finalized with staff ANY of the details regarding their jobs...

This sounds like Vinci staff posting ++++

Teacher turnover rate should have nothing to do with high quality standards. They should hire quality teachers that meet the standards in the first place. Most teachers voluntarily choose to leave stating it felt like a "prison"...

A good school knows how to hire and retain a quality teacher.

This is an honest post. We send our child there and are happy overall. The teachers are good and caring. We have found that it's about the day to day and bonds with the teachers and friends and less about the admin and fussy parents on these boards. I think Sylvia and Arionne are running the duke street location well and my kid is happy.

I have to agree with the previous poster. Our child has been at Vinci for a year and we're very happy there. The teachers have been great and it sounds cheesy but she feels important and valued there and that means a lot. The owner is definitely a little nuts but day to day things aren't nearly as dramatic as what you would think based on all these posts.
