How do you discourage dogs pooping on your lawn?

We have two huge dogs and pick up their crap. It is SO frustrating to go for walks and see dog shit all over the place. It's so f*cking rude and disgusting. Kids walking home from school and avoiding it like land mines. Lean over and pick it up, you pigs!

There was a woman in my previous neighborhood that had a little shit dog and NEVER picked up it's waste. She strolled around the neighborhood like Princess Di, leash in one hand - coffee in the other. NO intention on picking up after it. We reported her to the condo association. we also put cayanne (?) pepper all around the maked territory.

They sent her a nasty-gram & told her next time she'd be fined. It worked.

I get you, OP, it drives me crazy. If I can clean up after my huge dogs' dumps, you can clean up after yours!

how about covering the poop up with leaves and pine needles? is that good enough?

Would you believe that one of our (apartment building) neighbors let her dog pee on our kids' (communal) snowman?

Of course not.

a) Still smells
b) Still smears on shoes, more likely to be accidentally stepped on
c) Still attracts rats
d) Still contaminates run-off

Why would you even think so?

That is a really a smart thing to do and then you will be arrested for assault and battery.

Unless you're in the middle of the wilderness, I don't understand how covering the pile of filth with leaves will keep public areas clean where people walk everyday.

I try to stick it under a tree after I cover it with leaves and pine needles. Not in the middle of a sidewalk or where I expect people to be walking.

You go through all that trouble, why not just pick it up?

I just don't get it....unless you are writing this stuff to get under people's skin

Go to you local hardware store and buy some of that pepper spray that's meant to discourage raccoons and other wildlife from entering your attic. Then spray the grass strip every few days with the pepper spray. I suspect the dogs will find other places to crap. Good luck.

like I said before, normally I don't have the bag with me. forget. this is not downtown DC or an area with sidewalks, so less likely to leave land mines for someone else ...
