Tampon recommendations? Tampax seems to be horrible for me after having a baby.

Diva cup users - can you run or do other strenuous exercise while using one?
Anonymous
Yes. I'm a runner and use a diva cup. For the PP who had pain after inserting...are you inserting using the crescent moon shape and "pushing down" I experience a bit of discomfort if its not fully open but once it "pops" its fine. Keep at it. The Diva Cup is the best thing that has happened to my cookie since that one Army photographer in '08 LOL

Please let us know what the OB response you get is. The whole line seems scarce, and no ultras left online anywhere either.

The ultra are the ones I use, too. I still have part of a box. I'll use the yellow label if I have to, but they don;t last long enough. This is a bummer! I hope they re-stock soon!

I am furious that OB are no longer making the Ultra size. Particularly since their website directs you to a site to "diagnose" the problem with your heavy period and encourage you to get some medical procedure. Presumably someone owns OB or whatever.

I am so pissed that if they do not bring back Ultra, I will simply boycott them and use Diva Cups for the rest of my life. I don't really like Diva Cups much, but they are effective, and I'd rather use that than be pushed into using a gazillion tiny tampons that leak or having some medical procedure pushed on me.

I'm so angry. That line about updating their manufacturing process is total BS. This is profit driven, I guarantee it.

Runner using a diva cup here too. I cannot overstate how useful this invention has been in all the activities I participate in - hiking, swimming, etc. Of course, my flow isn't so heavy that I need to empty it every hour - my tune might change if I did!

I sleep with it overnight most nights too.

Yes, provided there is a break between migraines and cramps.

I called OB - was put on hold for 25 minutes..... yes I held on because there is a shortage here in Wisconsin also! I checked Walgreens, Walmart, Kmart, Target all within 75 miles.....not a box to be had! A nurse answered for OB and said they discontinued the Ultra and that they were having production issues with their machines that make them. She said they don't anticipate having any back in the stores until Spring of 2011 and that if I didn't see any by then, I should call and get an update of the anticipated release to the stores. She also stated that if I found them in any store I should stock up and that they were selling boxes of 40 on ebay for $40. Yes, that is $1.00 a tampon.........

I live in Virginia Beach and haven't been able to find OB anywhere! Every store is completely out. I truly hope they do not discontinue... OB has been my favorite for 20 years... I hate to switch brands now.....

This thread reminds me of the Seinfeld where Elaine bought a whole case of sponges b/c they were not going to be manufactured any more...

Tampax Pearl with Always pads as a backup works fine for me.

OB is having manufacturing issues, that's why nobody can find them in the stores. They hope to have it all resolved by 2011, but, meanwhile, expect to see dwindling supplies everywhere. I really liked the Ultra tampon...any suggestions for a replacement?

This thread has been incredibly "enlightening" for several reasons, two of which are: I need to try the Diva Cup and women need to talk about hygiene products more often. For environmental reasons and to curb cynical corporate greed, which seems to be behind the degradation in quality of conventional tampons, we need to seek alternatives THAT ACTUALLY WORK;

also, who knew there were so many posters from across USA on DCUM!? I didn't.

Diva Cup user here as well. I do weight lifting, cardio, row machines, etc...with my cup in. No problems ever in the three years I've been a user. I also sleep with my cup in. On my heavy days (which aren't THAT heavy) I use a pantiliner with it just in case I don't wake up to empty it overnight. If I do get up to empty, I only have to do it once.

haven't read the full thread. OP have your gyn check you for cervical prolapse. Your cervix could be pushing on the tampon and causing it to dislodge. This happened to me.
