If your teen is sexually active...

Not there yet with my kids, but as an older teen, it was at boyfriend’s house when his parents went on overnight trips. I would coincidentally spend the night at “Jessica’s house” when they went out of town. But this was toward the end of senior yr.

Honest question. What was going through your head when you typed and posted this? Was it "my kid deceives me and so OP is likewise deceived"? Was it "OP forgot to ask "is my kid having sex" so I will just answer the question I thought she should have asked"?

I am seriously dying to know what is behind these dumb pointless responses!

I think it's just the naive confidence of OP, some things teens keep private and getting a play by play from your teen isnt healthy either. Even if they haven't done the big IT, they're having some form of sex, oral sex, HJs, etc. And where is that occurring? If they've figured that out, they'll figure out where to have the big IT.

It is your kid, it's all our kids, the ones who say not my kid have their head buried in the sand.

It's not much different than your kids masturbating in your house either. Doubly gross if it's boys and leaving their ejaculate in random tissues/socks or not washing their hands after.

You just get used to it. It's nature of life, man.

This. You don't have to make it easy for them. I'm fact, you shouldn't.

I honestly do not understand this point of view. What's wrong with safe, consensual sex? Why not let your teen have sex at home in their bed with the door closed? Better that than in a car, or some other dirty unsafe place.

This has to be a teen posting. There's many dangers: emotional fallout when the relationship sours, improper use of b.c. leading to pregnancy or sti, becoming subject of gossip at school which leads to bullying, etc. It seems many of the teen suicides that make the news have some element of romance gone bad or sexual embarrassment.

Not a teen.So you're saying if they're having sex in a car or elsewhere they won't have emotional fallout when the relationship ends, bc won't fail etc?? That makes no sense at all. In fact, it's probably the opposite.

My kids must have became sexually active in college. So, they would have been late teens or early twenties. My guess only.

It is not as if they came home with an SO, ever. We are not from that kind of a culture.

The BF and GF they introduced us to were the people they wanted to marry, and we could not find faults with those people. They were similarly educated, met during college, grad school, or job. From same kind of SES and from similar intact families. They just happened to be different races and different religions. They worked for several years before they married these people. There was no revolving door of SOs or casual hookups that we were introduced to.

DP.

The responses here indicate there are MANY naive parents of teens out there.

Your little children are teens now. Yes, teens think about SEX. Many try it before they get to college.

That’s just a fact. Sorry, not sorry.

Was in line at Starbucks last year and over heard two teens in front of me flirting. They were talking about the girl giving the boy a blowjob in the Starbucks bathroom.

Then they got out of line, and both went into the bathroom together. They stayed in there for 5 or 10 minutes, then they came out together.

I wonder what possibly could have happened?

Our kids may be together

Nobody is stopping them from being home alone in either house, and I am pretty certain it's happening in my basement when I'm all the way upstairs because they know I'm not coming to check.

DP. Wrong again. Many aren’t. My friends and I didn’t.
