"Programs and services" is broader than "attendees at our school". Could include camps, private or group lessons, etc. |
There are a handful of local schools that offer part-time enrollment and/or modified schedules. But the thing is that while they offer sports teams, they are not, in and of themselves, sports focused. The ones that allow part-time enrollment mostly assume that subjects for which the student is not enrolled are going to be homeschooled by the parent, and the modified schedule ones assume that a bunch of work will be done at home. Off the top of my head
Covenant Christian Academy in Warrenton - 3 days in school, 2 days off. https://www.covenantva.org/about/what-is-a-university-model-school--.cfm (Grace Prep and the Capitol Hill Learning Group also are university model schools) Dominion Christian offers part time enrollment. And, of course, there's Fusion, but as far as I know, they don't have sports teams. |
These sound like modified homeschool co-ops. Cheaper than doing virtual school via The Saint James, I guess, but at that point why not just do Virtual Virginia unless you want the things that a Protestant homeschool co-op provides in-and-of itself? |
OP - you want IMG Academy in Florida. There's nothing like it here unless you choose a specific sport and go to their school. but your kid has to be the top 1% in his age group.
Example Philly Union has an on campus school for a few hours, and then the rest of the day you play your sport. But you have to be really really good to even get into Philly Union academy. So, short answer is no there isn't something similar in this area...but you can find them in the US (and maybe even within the mid atlantic) if your kid is elite. |
Thank you. We accepted the spot. -OP |
I really hope OP is not attending St. James Academy, it is awful. $35,000 for an online public school education that is free for anyone in VA to attend. The sports training is hit or miss, one coach will run training for the time they are suppose to, another will end it 30 mins early, another will move times around so they can’t be in their online classes. They took on way too many kids for only their second year. Kids are all over the place all day, in a public and non-secure public building. One kid already expelled for fighting, mean girl groups, kids can’t do work because it’s so loud in the classroom. The list goes on. They only reason to go there is if it is free for you. And if as a parent you have the time to manager your child’s academics. |
What is your connection with the school? Teacher? Coach? Parent? |
