I was surprised at how downscale Great Wolf Lodge was.

The water park was fun, and my DD (3yo) had lots of fun, but man, the accommodations were so crappy.

We liked our cute room with the log cabin in it. We have 3 kids, though. I don't think we would have sprung for the room if we only had one kid.

I guess it just seems like they aren't even trying. For instance, there are tons of people staying in the hotel, a captive audience, why isn't the restaurant at least decent? It was mostly empty the whole time we were there. Seems to me if they could make the restaurant appealing, then it might be a money maker for them.

I also noticed a lot of the guests that showed up on Thursday night looked to be lower SES. Not a problem for me, but it got me wondering. Is GWL the destination vacation for folks who can't afford to fly somewhere warm on the winter?

You're no better than them. You're in the same resort, and judging them! How upper white trash of you!

I'm glad you weren't bothered by poor people on your vacation.

GWL has gone downhill for sure. When they first opened, it was very nice and drew a more middle class crowd. The food is absolutely the worst on the planet! Despite this, my kids absolutely love the place, so we go. Yes, the basic rooms suck and often smell a bit moldy due to constant wet feet, suits and towels people leave laying around all day. It is best to upgrade the room. We get either the two bedroom or loft when we go. I absolutely HATE the place, I really do. I see nothing wrong with what the OP posted because it is the TRUTH!!!! Also it me it is actually better in the summer because the outside area is decent and you can drive to VA beach and go to Bush Gardens too. The place is way overpriced for what you get. We never eat there, we usually eat at a cute restaurant in Williamsburg called Table Talk and of course Captain George's seafood house. There are a lot of restaurants in Williamsburg.

What did you expect? It's a kids water park.

It's okay. Take a deep breath. I know how disappointed you must be that Mitt is not running.

What? OP here, why would you think I'm a republican based on what I wrote? Voted for Obama twice if you must know. And the income status of the other guests didn't have anything to do with our enjoyment of the place, it was just something I observed. I'm not allowed to be curious about it?

I think the attitude that you were slumming it rubs people the wrong way, OP. Understandably so.

Thank you PP for capturing exactly what I was trying to say. I couldn't get the words to come out because my head was still hurting from smacking my forehead after reading OP's response.

It's an indoor waterpark for kids. It's not going to be that upscale. Why do you care about the SES of the other guests? Just go an enjoy your time with your own family.
