Burgundy Farm 2014

My children are not as happy with burgundy farm summer day camp this year. I am curious if other families are having similar issues. I'm not sure if my kids have just outgrown it or if the change is due to construction or new management. They seem to enjoy activities less (the new game Sit on a Line without speaking is definitely not a welcome addition and there are fewer trips to see the animals.) They think that snacks are smaller. Apparently, there are no shows, bounce houses, or special activities. It does seem like a lot of the counselors are new. In addition, there was less communication, for example no schedule distributed. Not sure what I can do and know I am only hearing the kid's side.

My son is 5, and this is our first time at Burgundy, so our experience may not be a fair point of comparison. He loves it. In the past, we've done day camps at his preschools. The main differences are daily swimming, water slide, animals, and computer lab. I've gotten some strange and some concerning reports (e.g., "we went to science, and we walked in, and then we just left", "remember my mean teacher from my old school? [One of the counselors] is just like that.", "I drowned a little bit at the pool today" <- this last one obviously warranted a discussion with the camp). Have you talked to the director or someone from the senior staff who was there in previous years? I've talked to them a couple of times about concerns I had, and I felt that they were responsive.

Our child attends and despite all the animals in the brochure says that she has not seen any. Glad to hear that PP's child was able to visit the animals. Our DD likes some counselors but complains about some of the others. We are waiting to see how the summer progresses before deciding about future years.

For what they charge, I'm surprised it isn't amazing.
