Since several messages very similar to this one have been posted and then removed by me, and this one has been reported a couple of times, I'll provide a bit of clarification of what is going on.
First, all of these messages have been posted by someone associated with K12, a for-profit education company. Apparently, K12 is providing online education on behalf of CAPCS. CAPCS is led by Kent Amos who is currently being sued by the DC government for misuse of funds. So, I am a bit skeptical about this whole thing. This seems to be very much a commercial advertisement and not something I would normally allow to be posted here. But, since it is apparently a program approved by the DCPCSB, it does deal with a current DC charter school program. |
They've got to be wasting time and efforts. I can't imagine they've even had one bite from DCUM. |
School choice ![]() |
I could imagine some families choosing this--if they were planning to homeschool anyway and just wanted a structured curriculum and the benefits of actually being enrolled in a school.
With that said, the very few folks I know who did CAPCS online school either had kids with such severe behavioral challenges they were constantly being suspended anyway, or the parent was very strange to the point of probable mental illness and it probably did the kid a disservice to be educated away from the view of mandatory reporters. |
OP: please explain your relationship to Kent Amos. |
