| How us it? I didn't care for the principal. Curious if it's worth it as I know it's also new. |
Why don't you care for the principal? |
| If our school had LLIV at the time our dc was found eligible, we would have stayed. Instead, we were sent to Haycock for one year and then to Lemon Road for the second. The program is okay, but it's just not what it was at Haycock. |

I asked him a few questions regarding their program and he seemed dismissive. I also heard teachers don't like him. On his school survey by FCPS, he received:
c. Teachers feel comfortable raising issues and concerns that are important to them. 41.0% Q7.4 Overall, the school leadership in my school is effective. 63.9% Not good. Local schools surrounding, including my base school, had much, much better scores. |

| thank you! |
| Just remember the contract for the Haycock renovation is being awarded next month and it will be a construction zone soon. |
What does this have to do with anything? |
I am not surprised. He walked into a hornet's nest. Lemon Road has undergone a ton of change over the past few years: major change to its boundary, an addition, and being made into an AAP Center. All of which happened very fast and with little initial local involvement. Plus, during that time lost a long standing Principal, had an interim Principal and now a third Principal. It takes time to build a relationship based on trust- and more time when so much has changed for the school. This goes for the students, parents and staff too. |
| My children are very happy there in AAP. Love the teachers. Love the staff. Very open community with small numbers. The teachers that they have are amazing....kind, considerate, and wonderful at what they do. |
Where can you see what ES are up for renovation and when? |
| I think the principal and assistant work well together. The community is full of good people who have the children's best interest at heart. Yes, there have been some bumps in the road, but I feel if you are honest and open with them, you will get the answers and results you need/want. |
The April 23 School Board all day work session included a Capital Improvement Program agenda item: http://www.boarddocs.com/vsba/fairfax/Board.nsf/goto?open&id=9J3KWJ4EC758 I believe Attachment C may have the listing you are looking for: http://www.boarddocs.com/vsba/fairfax/Board.nsf/files/9J7PK25A2407/$file/Attachment%20C%20-%20Renovation%20Queue%20-%20Current%20Enrollment%20%26%20Capacity%20Info.pdf |
Thank you! I wanted to look up Louise Archer- that school is so dreary and old- I don't think it's been touched since the 30s (when it was originally built). We passed on this center option for AAP. |
