Deprograming MAGA

Anonymous
The point being, that wasn't what the Mueller report said. So Berliner gets it wrong, repeats the falsehood and the right wing echo chamber rolls with it.

Instead of rushing to “deprogram” take a minute to listen to other points of view. Maybe then you will come to understand right from wrong.

It is a check box of most of the threads in this forum for the last decade.

Most of the right winger threads, I’d say. Until the right wing propaganda pipeline is shut down, we’re stuck.

That's right! Shut people down and silence them. They must see things your way.... or else!

When one way is based on lies and misinformation, the lies and misinformation poison how a democracy works. Why should lies and misinformation be a regular part of the "marketplace of ideas" That isn't what Adam Smith had in mind. The founders of our country understood this.

DP
Looking back over the past 8 years, I would argue there have been more lies and misinformation coming from the left.

Starting with the "Trump Inaugural was bigger than Obama's" to "Trump won the 2020 election" and the documented 30,000+ material lies told by the Trump administration, I don't think whatever list you want to generate about lies from the left will come close, but I am game. What lies and misinformation is coming from the left? (and I am not saying there aren't but I am curious)

Read this link posted in another thread.
It is just the beginning......
And, if we want to talk about lies....... there is a reason the WaPo stopped documenting lies when Biden was elected. He tells several lies every time he talks. And, he has been fact checked on several of them.... yet, he tells them again and again and again.

Sorry, no, not giving thefp, whatever that is a free click. Have any, you know, real sources?

Good grief. It was written by a current editor at NPR - Uri Berliner.

Maybe tweet it at Hilary Clinton so she can broaden her new sources.

Here is an example of russian disinformation that is meant to impact our elections

That's the problem. We do listen to MAGA points of view. Then we look up the facts and find that they are wrong.

When other points of view are factually wrong, or based on disinformation from our enemies, there is really no reason to listen to them.

This. I tend to fact check and make sure anything I share is accurate to the best of my ability.

And my MAGA relatives refuse to do any fact checking at all, including the spelling of names of politicians and the like.

It's one thing to have different point of view, it's another to parrot disinformation and Russian propaganda to others.

You can look at other threads in this forum to see exactly the kind of disinformation that propagates through the MAGA set.

For example, in the Biden Economy thread, someone posited that inflation happened under Biden as a result of his spending bills. Global inflation is at 6.9%. In the US, it is at 3.4%. If the Biden spending was the cause, then the US inflation would be on par or worse than global inflation.

Just one example, and literally every argument on every thread is like this.

A favorite quote of mine about this goes something like this: she thinks water is made of hydrogen and oxygen, he thinks it’s unicorn urine filtered through rainbows - how can we help them see each other’s side?

It was a conservative who said that regarding the ludicrous idea that MAGA fairytales should be given serious consideration.

Good God.

I have just read several posts on here about "misinformation" and people being uninformed.
And, then we have two people - one who posted the X posting and another who asked the stupid question.
Neither of you seem to recognize that the guy who lit himself of fire was not a fan of Trump. At all.

Let's talk about misinformation and being uninformed. Because you two are.
