Why aren’t we educating the public on internet and news consumption? We should be running PSAs about how internet scams and trolling work, how to critically think through news you receive etc. It’s maddening to me that only people with the education and money to read a legit newspaper know about Macedonia troll farms, for example. We should be educating the masses on fighting propaganda. |
We should technically be able to expect journalistic integrity from anyone who wants to be a source of news. That the GOP is infiltrated with Russian viewpoints and support should be widely known, but for some reason it’s not only unknown within Republican circles, but they will argue about it using talking points from three years ago. |
I seriously don't understand how my boomer parents went from "don't believe everything you read on the Internet" in the 1990s to "I read it on the Internet, so it must be true" in the 2010s and 2020s. |
You're going to fight propaganda with CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, Huffpost and the New York Times at your Front Line? This I have to see! |
That's right! Shut people down and silence them. They must see things your way.... or else! |
True. |
That you’re reducing the lies of propaganda to this is one of the reasons you are probably one of the people who needs to be deprogrammed. |
When one way is based on lies and misinformation, the lies and misinformation poison how a democracy works. Why should lies and misinformation be a regular part of the "marketplace of ideas" That isn't what Adam Smith had in mind. The founders of our country understood this. |
I am going to need you to delete this thread, because it is highly offensive to President Donald J. Trump. |
DP Looking back over the past 8 years, I would argue there have been more lies and misinformation coming from the left. |
Starting with the "Trump Inaugural was bigger than Obama's" to "Trump won the 2020 election" and the documented 30,000+ material lies told by the Trump administration, I don't think whatever list you want to generate about lies from the left will come close, but I am game. What lies and misinformation is coming from the left? (and I am not saying there aren't but I am curious) |
Read this link posted in another thread. It is just the beginning...... And, if we want to talk about lies....... there is a reason the WaPo stopped documenting lies when Biden was elected. He tells several lies every time he talks. And, he has been fact checked on several of them.... yet, he tells them again and again and again. https://www.thefp.com/p/npr-editor-how-npr-lost-americas-trust |
Sorry, no, not giving thefp, whatever that is a free click. Have any, you know, real sources? |
Good grief. It was written by a current editor at NPR - Uri Berliner. |
