Can you recommend a local ski place, within a 2-3 hour drive? I liked Snowshoe, but it's a 5 hour drive. Plus, we have a 3 yo toddler who would love to learn to ski. If there's a tot skiing school, that would be a bonus. |
Whitetail is only 90 min. from Fairfax. We went last weekend and had a blast - no lift lines and empty slopes (pre-Christmas skiing is now no longer a secret).
They offer 4 hr and 8 hr passes. They opened up Sidewinder which is new beginner trail. It is an excellent trail to learn on. Whitetail also has a variety of lifts - high speed quads and "regular" (slow) speed quads...and even the terrain park has a lift. Snow tubing is also available should your toddler prefer that over skiing. There pee-wee school requires potty trained children (min. age of 4) unless that has changed. A little further north you'll find Liberty and Roundtop. Also fun local ski resorts. |
All the ski slopes within 2-3 hours stink. Personally, I would just go to Roundtop or Whitetail, as they are only 1.5 hours away and have basic facilities. You could drive a little further to Wisp, Massanutten, Wintergreen, Bryce, etc., but they are just as mediocre.
