If you pay for a Yale University education, and, the school sits back and lets this happen, and go unpunished, you need to pull your kid out of there. Meanwhile, I agree 100%: EVERY person who was part of that protest should be expelled, or put on probation. |
that’s why I am suspending judgment on whether Yale has become a PC joke. It really all depends on how the administration handles the students’ demands. |
This did not happen at Yale. It happened at Dartmouth. |
No. Every person who was part of that protest should not be expelled, etc. But EVERY person who was disruptive, harassed, and threatened others SHOULD be expelled, etc. Why should anyone peacefully taking part in ANY kind of demonstration be penalized? That makes no sense. |
If you took part in the demonstration, and stood by doing nothing to stop your fellow protestors to your left and right as they unleashed racist expletives and were physically aggressive towards other students then, sorry, but you are an accomplice to that heinous conduct and should also be suspended/expelled. |
That same argument would apply to pro-life advocates when they march yelling expletives to their opponents. Should those who stand by and do nothing to stop their fellow protestors to their left and right as they unleash damning expletives to their opponents and are physically aggressive to their opponents, should they be arrested? Do you think some Tea Party members who fail to stop their fellow protestors to their left and right as they unleash racist expletives and denigrating visual aids should be arrested because they are an accomplice to that heinous conduct? There is a very fine line between free speech and censorship. |
That's silly. I think students who yelled/threatened should go through whatever disciplinary process they have there, but protestors are only responsible for their own actions. |
Surely Wolf's Head, Scroll & Key, and Skull & Bones can't let this slide and have Yale be made into a clown college. |
There is a huge difference between being arrested -- deprived of your liberty-- and merely being suspended from school.
You have no right to attend Dartmouth if you violate the schools code of conduct by participating in a "mob"-like action that invludes physically intimidation of other students who did not even know they were going to be targeted. |
Poppy Bush is convening a meeting this weekend. |
Some of them act like inmates indeed. |
I don't. But I do vilify THESE students. Dartmouth should expel them. |
Curious if you would you say the same thing -- only the ones who actually yelled or pushed or harassed should be expelled -- if the "demonstrators" were a group of fraternity members "demonstrating" for free beer and more football scholarships?. |
Yelling fuck and calling the police pigs was very fashionable in my day. I really believe people are over reacting to a few individuals behavior. |
Absolutely, 100%. If they intimidated, physically threatened and put their hands on someone, harassed, etc, then they have to go too. Not sure why you think a bunch of beer guzzling frat boys should be given a pass for exemplifying the same boorishirt behavior. Also, there is no comparison between beer and racist acts. Nothing wrong with the message from either group of protestors. Everything wrong with the presentation. |
