Why is Northeastern (NEU) so popular with both parents and students these days?

Those stats are gamed just like their admissions rate. Their admissions numbers are just not comparable to any other school because they are calculated differently.

Every school yield protects. I think people just don't like change in college tiers. These are not predetermined categories. neu has done a fantastic job with building its coop program and improving its desirability. Yes it's true, my DS and his friends mostly regard neu in the same tier as HYPSM because the acceptance rate is lower than all of those schools at 3.5%. we are at a W school so when someone gets into MIT for example it's met with a 'meh', but when you get into neu everyone will know. My DS said his friends literally screamed when someone got accepted because 40+ applied this year and only one got in. It truly is an amazing prestigious school.

No one at my kids' mcps schools or anywhere really regards neu as anything close to MIT or an Ivy. It's a fine school. Be happy. Stopt this nonsense of tryingto compare it to T15 schools.

I just looked up the CDS for the years before test optional and the 25th/75th percentiles were 1360/1530 on average.
