I support that if phones are being used they get taken away. But kids should be able to keep them in their pocket ICE.

Teachers get tired of policing this and need reinforcement from a clear policy that address teacher concerns and parent interests.

APS principals wanted this.

Not all of them.

Just the ones more concerned about academic achievement than appeasing parents and kids.

No, the ones who understand this is a nuanced issue and that good policy doesn't come from some people screaming loudly about the evils of cell phones.

With iPads and cellphones being banned, APE really wants students to be Luddites when they graduate.

That's okay. My kids have a phone. They know that they can't use it in school except for emergencies without consequences. I monitor all of it. Because I'm a good parent who doesn't need his teachers, administrators and school board members to be co-parents with me.

I have decided not to vote for Zuraya at all. I know more about her endorsements than her stances on student success.

I just don't like Chen. Sorry not sorry. In person, he's a prick.

I guess that leaves Kathleen who was #1 anyway and Larry.

Right I keep wondering why APE wants to ban cell phones for all the other students. If the APEs don't want their own kids to have a cell phone in school, then don't buy them one.

They don’t really care about cell phones. Well maybe that one loudmouth with kids in early ES cares because she is clueless about older kids.

They just want to trash APS 24x7. They are not advocating for our kids.

APE just sounds like a group of parents who are having a hard time managing their own kids so they want to deflect and manage APS to help them where they are failing at home.

Does that description apply to the entire country of England? https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-launches-crackdown-on-mobile-phones-in-schools

Just learned that Chen works for a Fortune 50 company and Zuraya at Meta/facebook and univision.

Is it wrong that I hate how often business execs feel like they can come in to any environment and fix things? (with NO experience other than their corporate job)

I voted for Kathleen and Larry. The others aren't qualified and aren't worthy of ranking.

+1

Plus Zuraya getting all this external money rather than spending a few years getting involved in APS is a huge turnoff. I’m tired of carpetbaggers like Katie Cristol and Cristina D-T using SB as a stepping stone for their own ambitions. Zuraya seems to fall in that category.

Same! They think they are God's gift to a school system, but they are in for a rude awakening when they find out how things really work. And they are not going to be effective. The only ones who can be effective are the ones who bothered to put in the time to figure out how things actually work here. That's Kathleen and I guess Larry.
