I have searched the Internet for days without any luck so I'm turning to this with hopes that someone can help me out.
I have a hard, quarter sized bump on my public bone. It's not in the crease where your leg meets groin where the lymph nodes are--although the pain radiates to that area. The bump is actually on my pubic bone, just near the crease of my leg. Everything I've researched says cysts, ingrown hairs, etc but there is nothing on my skin surface. The bump is deep, actually feels like it is on the bone. The pain is a dull aching that almost feels like bone pain as well..it's deep. I don't think it's a lymph node because I didn't thing there were nodes in your actual public area, just the groin surrounding it. I'm freaking myself out with what this could be. Please help! |
Please see a doctor. |
Could be an infected hair follicle or pore. It's been humid lately and that area can get sweaty. Try some hot compresses to see if it will help with the swelling and pain. Maybe also try some acne cream on a band aid to help it heal faster. If it doesn't get better in a couple of days, see your doc. |
My guess is a cyst. See a dr. |
Get thee to an internist fast. |
Sorry, but if I told you what I really think, as I did in a column earlier this week about Williams disease, then I get some ass telling me not to alarm the parent. So if I tell you it sounds like bone cancer, someone will flame me for being alarmist. Can't win on this website. |
My guess is a cyst. Put a warm compress on it a couple times a day. Once it's come to a head, get the nasty out, clean with soap and water, and put neosporin on it and cover it with a gauze. Change the gauze everyday until it's healed. |
But she says the bump is deep and feels like it is on the bone. Cysts move. Cancer doesn't. Please see a doctor today. if you can't afford it, emergency room and take a book. |
sebaceous cysts need to be surgically removed or else they keep reoccurring |
OP, did it just recently appear all of a sudden, or has it been there for a while?
|
I had something like that once. It was an infected hair follicle. It was so hard and the size of a quarter I thought it could not be a pimple or ingrown hair. I put hot compresses on it and then went to a dermatologist who lanced it and cleaned it out. It never happened again. |
This is an extremely unlikely spot to develop bone cancer. You really don't know what it sounds like an no one should be guessing based on one line posted on the internet. OP, I understand those middle of the night panics but if you post your symptoms on the internet asking for reassurance someone will come along and say something alarming instead. Its just best to take these things to the doctor. |
See? Proves my point OP. You didn't like it when people didn't suggest what your problem might be, but if anyone does say what they think and urges you to see a doctor, they are told to butt out. Can't win on this site. People are just too interested in shooting everyone else down, no matter what they say. |
I'm PP that you quote and I didn't tell anyone to butt out. I was just telling OP that posting these kinds of questions can actually increase anxiety. Calm down. OP is consulting a doctor. |
OP here. Don't respond to this post if you "can't win on this site". Why are you here, then? Thank you to everyone else for your useful responses. I appreciate it. I have a doctor's appointment next week. I was not posting here instead of seeing a doctor--it was simply my outlet to ask for advice until my appointment. Please..if you are going to criticize, go elsewhere. This is a health forum, I don't think my post was inappropriate. |
