OP, I thought your post was entirely appropriate. You ask "Why are you here then"? I was there to help. at :39 I wrote "Get Thee to an Internist Fast". At 8:24 you say "These responses piss me off . . . it's 11:30 . . . .etc. At 8:30 I raised concern that you said the cyst did not move and suggested you go to an emergency room because in my experience growths that do not move (breast cancer x 5 in family) can be malignant and I wanted you to get this checked out fast. You were unhappy with the prior responses given and and I explained that in the past when i have suggested possible diagnoses (Crohn's disease, Marfarns, Williams Syndrome), invariably jerks who know less than I lecture me I have no right making suggestions on the internet which is exaclty what 10:17 does. Hence, my comment "you can't win". Which is why I won't try to help anyone anymore on this site, which is a pity because I have saved some lives in my many years on this planet. So the Assholes win. I will leave DCUM. But I was not criticizing you. I was criticizing the self-important very unhappy people on this site who skim it seeking for an opportunity to shoot someone down at every opportunity.

For many years I have had things like this from time to time. For me it has ended up being an infected hair follicle, but there are so many different things this could be. Glad you are going to see a doctor, but I wanted to just give you a heads up that for me at least, the infected hair follicle starts out as hard and unmovable, and only after several days, sometimes weeks, does it come to a head and becomes movable. So who knows what it could be, but I wanted to put in my two cents. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Op: please post back with results.

I'm actually going for an MRI this week for something similar.

Best of luck to both of us.

Awfully grandiose and a prime example of why people should not be offering diagnoses on the internet. I had breast cancer and my tumor moved. When I told my surgeon that I had read that breast cancer doesn't move, he said that is an old, outdated myth. Back in the day, breast cancer was diagnosed at a later stage when it was more likely to have attached to the chest wall. if you tell people that breast cancer doesn't move, you are spreading disinformation that could be dangerous.

And the pubic bone isn't the breast. Which is all to say that you have a grand idea of your ability to save lives and offer up diagnoses on the internet willy-nilly, but what you've offered is pretty useless and OP is right to see a doctor.

Finally, cancer is almost never a medical emergency. You should not go to the ER with a lump. A week won't make a difference. Again, you are wrong.

See? Proved my point again. "Grandiose and prime example of why not to give advice." OP, you wanted advice. You came to a notorious site to post. We said "get thee to doctor fast". Then you complain about the depth of responses and I explained why I don't like to diagnosis on this site, but said if it was still bugging you at 11:30 then go to an emergency room. Then whatever (free) advice is given is shot down and personal insults thrown at the poster trying to help. See above. And OF COURSE we know the breast isn't near the pubic bone. Are you insane? congrats to all of you. Never again. You aren't worth the time.

2nd time you've said goodbye. You are losing credibility. I didn't say the breast wasn't near the public bone, I said breast cancer is an entirely different cancer than one that would be on the public bone.

And please do not go to the ER just because you are anxious about a lump. They will send you home and tell you to go to your doctor during regular business hours. And you will just take them from legitimate emergencies.

I suspect a cyst too. I freaked out when I had developed these hard pumps on my skull in the back of my head. According to a doctor they are some sort of cyst that isn't an issue.

Of course go to a doctor, but just letting you know that it doesn't mean you are getting bad news. I had convinced myself I had multiple tumors growing on my skull and my kids were going to grow up motherless. I didn't even tell my husband until I found out what they were because I didn't want to stress him out.

Cancer, while deadly, is usually not a life threatening emergency....it can wait to see your Dr. Tumors do not go from a small bump to deadly in a day. You go to the ER when there is something that needs treatment right away or things will get worse. My Cancer was diagnosed in the ER, but I went their for other reasons (passed out and broke my nose due to severe abdominal pain. Cancer can cause a symptom that is an emergency (e.g., ruptured intestines), but it is a slow acting disease.

What type of cancer? Was that the cause of your abdominal pain? Hope you're doing ok.

I had shard bump on my bone below my elbow, though it wasn't painful. Saw an orthopedist (X-ray showed nothing) and he said that can happen when you bang or bruise it (though I didn't remember the injury). It eventually went away. But it was a pea-sized, hard bump.
