Wall mounted air conditiiner

Anonymous
We need to cool down a room that was added on after central air was put in, and never really cools down enough. It's a playroom. We want to get a wall mounted ac. Have any of you done research about them or know where to start in considering this purchase?
Thanks!

Is there a window available? It needs air intake and a place to drain the water.

We went with a ductless unit for our 4 season sunroom (does heat and a/c). Much like units in European hotels. It was much cheaper to do a separate unit rather than tap into existing ductwork and upgrade our house a/c, particularly since we don't use the room or need the heat/a/c every day. We paid about $1,000 for a unit to cool and heat 260 sq ft room. Don't know what installation would have been since it was part of our addition.

I'm assuming that this is what you are talking about, rather than a window or portable unit. It's very efficient and quiet.

I was thinking about this and came across this one:

I don't know how well it works since we haven't done it yet, so maybe someone else does.

I'm the sunroom PP. We went with Fedders, but heard good things about Mitsubishi and Fujitsu. When we bought ours 2 years ago, the Fedders unit was on sale and rated well. Definitely read reviews. Some units are known to be loud. With ours, you can hear the air blowing, but it's not too loud. Comparable to our ceiling fan on high.
