Beyonce's lyrics are disgusting

As an anti-poverty advocate, I think it's a big part of the problem.

I think it's a shame Beyoncé and Jay haven't used their tremendous platform to effect social change. Think about the impact they could have if they did a PR campaign aimed at teaching black tweens and teens that it's cool to NOT have babies until you're 30 and have seen the world/lived your life/had an adventure and settled down...like they did. Better yet: tell everyone to at a minimum graduate from high school.

Well said. Thank you.

+1 I totally agree.

I'm the OP. I don't have a problem with Beyonce's raunchy lyrics...I have a problem with her whole mission statement for her film being about bringing awareness to HBCU and how critically important they are (which I agree with) and then singing "he Monica Lewinsky'd all over my gown."

I don't think they are the white ladies of DCUM. I actually think this site is inflitrated by legit white supremacists (like, overt, with messages being spread on social media).

her lyrics suggest she should be a girl power or African American role model.

+1. I've never been a big fan, and the cult-ish flavor of her fandom baffles me. She has great stage presence when performing and a decent voice, but I don't enjoy most of her songs, especially in recent years when they've gotten more lowbrow and materialistic. Also, people give her props for being a great dancer, but I think that's debatable--she dances hard, and has great choreographers. And the creative people around her have a knack for cultivating her aura and creating concept albums. She's not articulate and probably not very bright, but she's had the good judgment to stay away from bad press all these years.

Also, I haven't watched this Coachella documentary--is this supposed to be an ode to the black college experience? If so, how tf does she manage this when she didn't attend an HBCU (alum here), much less even graduate from high school?? Just asking, because it seems bizarre. I guess her people came up with the idea, and she went with it.

On a positive note, I know she and Jay do a lot of charity work. Also, just looked up the Frankie Beverly & Maze cover, and it's not bad.

Ok, you don't have to listen. (Since when have colleges and personal purity gone hand and hand? Oh yeah, never ... I mean, I don't love that line, but in the scope of lyrics in general, I don't find it that repugnant. And I think it's funny you're purporting to bash Beyonce and Jay Z for not being active enough, but then also you're concern-trolling/tone-policing her on what she HAS chosen to be active on - HBCUs.) I'm wondering what your supposed anti-poverty advocacy consists of. Barry Goldwater Institute, because the free market will free us all?

Just so I understand, are you saying that if you don't care for Beyonce, you're a white supremacist?

She’s a good proxy for just about everything that’s lewd, commercial, crass, and low-brow in the entertainment industry in 2019. I mean, compare her to the talent of a Joni Mitchell decades ago, and it’s enough to make you cry.

She's gross. Always has been. Isn't their marriage a sham anyway?

She’s one act of many. Do you condemn twerking train wreck Miley Cirus?

Do you compare lady Gaga and Katie Perry to Joanie who the hell cares MITCHELL? Beyoncé is an entertainer. You don’t have to like her. Do you cut her down cause she’s a black woman? Sounds like it to me. Just stop it.

No. Different poster. It’s the way you are cutting her down that sounds race based. If you don’t like her then no need to post. You’re not gonna change the mind of anyone who likes her. . I’m not a fan but I respect her game and her message in Homecoming.

Lady Gaga is 10 times the artist Beyonce ever was before she became a parody of her old self.
