could I file a nuisance/noise complaint for a windchime?

You shouldn’t have to take them down!!! It’s your property - they don’t control the air!

+1. Our neighbors have wind chimes and we can’t hear them at all when we’re inside. If you’re that sensitive to noise, just get the noise cancelling headphones and you can use them for other things that irritate you, like people mowing the lawn.

NP. To annoy the neighbors, I can only assume.

Personally, I quite enjoy the sound of a deeper, high quality sound wind chime sometimes when I'm in the mood, e.g. during a yoga class, but that doesn't mean I want to listen to one at random times of the day/night while I'm trying to sleep or concentrate with no control over it.

I honestly can't even imagine being so entitled as to put something whose purpose is to make noise in my yard - let alone something that could be making noise 24/7 including times when I'm not even home - in an urban or suburban area where other people would be able to hear it. It's really the height of entitlement.

I’m very noise sensitive, yet love wind chimes. I can hear my neighbor’s across the street when it’s really windy with my windows shut. Unlike car stereos, neighbors hanging out in front of their house loudly discussing politics and the sound of clomping footsteps upstairs, wind chimes are melodious. But then I also like the sound of children playing outside as well, something I’ve heard complaints about as well.
