Dutch Wonderland/Amish Country with kids
When the kid is older, Pittsburgh was fun this summer with my 9 and 10y olds. We did a day in Kennywood, a day at the Heinz museum, and then drove back through Ohiopyle State park and went hiking and had a picnic. |
NP here. wow.. this sounds awesome! I've always wanted to do a surprise trip.. but not so easy to do it for yourself. Thanks! |
Stay at the Beacon Motel for 3-4 nights in Lewes, DE and go to the beach. |
I took my kids to Niagara Falls/Toronto for 5 days on a similar budget. We drove so saved money there. We didn’t stay in fancy hotels but we found decent places (Hampton Inn, HIE). The exchange rate at the time meant our dollar went 25% further. We ate free breakfast in the hotels and fast casual meals the remainder of the time so we had more money to see things. It was a great trip that my kids still talk about. |
You might be able to fly to FL on SW, Spirit or Jet Blue. I've seen some super cheap deals...use Hotwire for hotel. |
You could do an NYC trip - drive and use Airbnb. Lots of free things to do in the city, and you could grocery shop and prep simple meals in your kitchen to save money for most meals. |
Yes, NYC can be surprisingly inexpensive, particularly food. We drive to Staten Island and take the free ferry into Manhattan (garage is $8/day). We walk a lot. You can get fairly inexpensive tickets to certain shows. But I guess older kids would probably appreciate it more than a 3 year old. |
Hi, I suggest you to visit Phuket in Thailand for its beautiful places to see and refreshing environment. Have a wonderful trip.
