What you aren't getting is that for all of these kids, the US is their home country. Imagine, your parents came here when you were a toddler. You have never been to any country outside the US, ever. You went to school here and work here, and in some cases, died in service to the USA. What is their home country? Reagan and Bush had compassion for these people. Christians are supposed to have compassion. Where is it for this finite group of people who are generally accretive to the US Economy? |
I visit rural America to see family twice a year. Their (your) anger is misplaced. You need to be angry at corporations who do not want open offices in rural America because of the lack of workers. I don't know what you expect. I move for work, maybe they should too?! |

There should be both immigrants and a prosperous middle America. Only small minds see one as a detriment to the other! |
Duh, Mexico is doing that. https://www.usmexicofound.org/programs/daca-dreamers-delegations-to-mexico/ It makes no sense to educate our best and brightest and deport them. |
Other than for adventure, why would these people want to go live in a country where they don't know the culture, and maybe not even the language. The US is their home. I came here as a toddler (yes, legally). I'd love to go back to my parents' home country for a visit, but I wouldn't ever want to live there. The US is my country, such as it is now. These Dreamers are no different to me in that they came as children. They know no other home. |
Here is the list of 2016 Fiscal Year employers and HB1's. Critical persons serving as physicians in isolated /underserved communities? No. That would be a minority if any. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Resources/Reports%20and%20Studies/Immigration%20Forms%20Data/BAHA/h-1b-2016-employers.pdf I see a preponderance of bachelor's degrees as the highest level of attained education. Guess what? Young persons with STEM, IT degrees who are US citizens have to compete with them for jobs. Cognizant and Tata etc bring in over 50,000 BS/BA alone annually and sub=contract so you don't know where these persons are working. Some of the others might represent the people who leave them and just stay under a direct employer/employee relationship. The USA has schools , colleges, and universities. We have young people. There is no reason for this. Why should our own people have difficulty finding positions ? Does TATA recruit US citizens graduating with IT/STEM? No-that exists merely as a funnel for India and some other countries. |
DP.. then why did Trump increase H2B visas? Do we have a shortage of low skilled workers or something? And interestingly, his resorts only hire H2B visa workers from Eastern Europe. I guess the hundreds of African Americans who applied to work at his resorts didn't have "special skills". |
Well they never did pull themselves up by the bootstraps so we are moving on to people who will. |
So now the right is breaking with American tradition and wanting to hold children responsible for the actions of their parents.
What does that say about Eric, Ivanka and Donnie Jr? |
NP. Actually that's not what it shows. The last graph shows that the people st the top have accumulated large amounts of wealth while everyone else has stayed relatively static. It doesn't show movement at all between classes. |
The HB1, 2,3 should all be abolished. As far as I'm concerned the exploding chemical plant in Houston built on a flood plan could be rebuilt on good land. I'll find some. How about Baltimore? Plus it has a big deep water port. When was the last time that flooded? FYI AA young adults with STEM degrees and good GPA's even have trouble getting jobs due to the HB1 deluge. And that is complete BS. |
About 9% of the first generation Hispanics get college degrees. Their performance on educational assessments (NAEP, SAT etc) is woeful. I don't think "educated, motivated talent" is a good term to use when describing them. |
To summarize: the richest have gotten a lot richer in the US. The rest of the brackets have basically stayed the same. |
In other words:
