Since our homeless population spiked 33% and DCs went down 11% (like I predicted once the new homeless shelter in Courthouse opened)---crime has spiked. They are all over the neighborhood---knocking on doors in the middle of the night, yelling profanity as they walk down the middle of the neighborhood streets--at women and children, squatting in our neighbor's garage, living in new build construction sites. They come for the free meals, but don't stay the night. They then spill out into surrounding areas nearby. This is a fact the Board blatantly ignored. I want to help as much as anyone else, but the statistics were there and ignored. We now have DC's homeless population--short walk across the bridge. Think about this and AFH and the rapid increase of crime of late...and vote how you see fit... So who should we vote for? Driving around Arlington, I see at least 10 or so panhandlers every day. I swear if any Republicans run for SB and CB, I will vote for them. [Report Post] |
Me, too. I can't believe it's gotten to that point. |
When I vote is it for one candidate or do I need to have a ranking? |
Let's be honest, Liberal friends. The problem with our schools here in Nova is not AH. The problem is Illegal Immgration and DACA. |
I'm here to fight the battles I can win. |
Vote Republican on other ballots. It is absolutely insanity that Democrats do not want to enforce immigration laws and it is specific communities in Arlington and Fairfax that have to bear the cost of Sanctuary cities. |
No. I'm not voting for that crazy train on the national level. I would be interested in hearing out a moderate fiscal conservative at the local level- as long as they didn't bring any of the national level antiquated, hateful nonsense to the local level. |
I'm the PP and I agree with you. The old guard religious GOP is on its way out though. Fingers crossed. |
To counter the Illegal Immigration problem, which affects those of us in certain areas of Nova, we really need to look outside of party lines these days. The Democrats lost my vote in the last few years because of Obama's DACA shitshow and what it's done to FFX. |
Well, if you're in FFX, not sure why you're posting about Arlington's caucus. Take your hate elsewhere. This has nothing to do with immigration, legal or otherwise. |
Umm, because that is the underlying problem people are talking about with regard to Arlington's school overcrowding and low scoring problem, not AH. I understand the truth is really triggering for you and it's easier to write off any legit observation about Illegal Immigraton as "hate" but get over yourself. It is people like you that keep gaslighting voters into turning a blind eye to the obvious problem. |
I don't hate. I care about my schools and my neighborhood, and Illegal Immigration has really ruined both. So you take YOUR hate and crawl back under that rock of denial of yours. Tired of people like you trying to shut other people up by using labels. |
Excellent points. As for your third point, NPR had a good report the other day about how affordable housing developers have made a lot of money, but there still aren't enough units available for people to live in. http://www.npr.org/2017/05/09/527046451/affordable-housing-program-costs-more-shelters-less |
