$9000 pp here: I had a lift and implants and I lost no sensation. In fact they became a little more sensitive. |
That is "a false" for you. Perhaps for others it might be different?
It is not my intent to reduce the quality of this thread; I'm sorry you feel that it is. I felt the need to explain the quote because some people on this forum likely would not know what the generally understood meaning of the quote is. I'm pretty sure there are folks on DCUM who have never read Hamlet , or if they did, wouldn't remember a quote like that.
You're right on this one. I didn't mean to offend anyone with my use of the term, but now I realize how loaded it is. My apologies.
OK. Your point is clear. I'm signing off of this thread. Best of luck to everyone. |
Thanks for your response PP. You really thought about it and you sound like a real class act. I am the 9:23 poster. FYI: I am a breast cancer survivor and have very little tolerance for the term "boob job". Thanks for taking the time to respond....I had been thinking about this thread also. You made me smile today. |
Breast implants may need to be replaced -- they don't last forever. Consider that you may not be signing on for just one surgery. |
Further to the PP - how long do lifts last (w/o implants) last before needing to be redone? |
no loss of nipple sensation. I even had the implants places via the nipple. And you can not see the scar. I had it done in California for 3500. There is a place in Alabama that is supposed to be one of the best in the country and much cheaper. You could google and find it. Maybe worth a trip down south. |
I was not told that the "needed" to be redone -I think that is up to you. My Dr told me that it is the implants that may need replacement. |
Sounds like I may be one of the few who had a bad, bad experience. Lost nipple sensation completely, they even hurt now (sting) and the scars from the lift are really horrible. It appears that I do not heal well at all so please take this into consideration as well. Further since it has been a few years now, well many actually which may be why the scars are so bad (perhaps better techniques, tools now), my breasts are indeed right where they began...in Florida. For me, all around a pretty painful experience that left me feeling and look a bit butchered. My choice, mine to deal with. Just some thoughts... |
It is important to do your research ahead of time in terms of your Plastic Surgeon. |
Yup, I'm sure. What I'm trying to say (not very clearly, it seems), is that I believe that some women who say that they had boob jobs for themselves (and not for anyone else) might be in denial about the real reasons they did it. Of course, one can never know for sure what motivates another person, but I do know from my own experience that most women feel enormous pressure (from various sources) to look a certain way. It just makes me sad that we can't accept ourselves as we are.
I agree with the poster above who got slammed and who signed off. Women are under enormous pressure to look a certain way. So unfortunate. You can't escape from the culture and the culture ascribes enormous value to enormous/perky/young breasts. No matter how much you believe you did it for yourself, you must admit that our culture influenced the decision. I can at least admit that is partially why I got my breasts done. |
Gotta disagree with PP. Had em done for ME. It took my husband some time to get used to them. It is easier to move, I have no back/neck pain anymore and could care less about pressures of society. I can afford it. I feel great. |
19:00....using the term "boob job" degrades your post. |
Shaksepear is in the building!! |
I can chime in on my experience with implants/ lifts...
I have had two implants, silicone in '91 by my FIL who was a PS and a replacement last year, also silicone, by Dr. Roberta Gartside in Reston. I did a ton of research to find someone here who was skilled and reasonably priced. I found her to be both. My only regret was that the new generation of silicone isn't as natural feeling as my original implants. I guess that can't be helped. Mine are not under the muscle. If you have liquid silicone, that's fine. But mine are slightly squishier than a gummy bear. In a bra or bikini, they totally ROCK. IRL, they are not as soft as real boobs. I don't know if you'll have the choice between saline and silicone (the FDA is approving silicone back into the market but quietly) I never gave a moment's thought to all the drama over silicone - my FIL was the most cautious surgeon in the world, and he never felt like the claims against silicone implants was based in truth. Saline should be under the muscle if you want it to appear supple. I never felt that kind of pain, but "run over by a truck" is what my SIL felt when she did. She and my cousin have saline unders, and love them. When I had my replacement, it was because I was deciding between a lift or a swap. In the end, a bigger implant would give me a lift. I wasn't drooping as much as I thought and was a good candidate for a swap. I think my total was $5500, incl $1600 for just the silicone implants. Saline would be $400. Recovery was easy but again, I was silicone overs. Saline unders would be harder. In the end, totally worth it for me! |
