Does it bother any of you when your children go into your master bathroom

Anonymous
Doesn't seem to be that big of a deal to me of he wants to keep that space private. Does she go in there often? Why does she ignore her dad's request? I would ask her to use the hall bathroom and if she needs something, to ask permission if you're around. I wasn't forbidden from using my parents bathroom but I rarely had a reason to go in there.

What does your sexuality have to do with parenting?

Who gives a flying fajita?

I don't.

I think it's totally reasonable to want an adult only space. And it's v disrespectful of your daughter to use that bathroom when she's been told not to, and even more disrespectful to enter a room without knocking. You need to back up your adult partner, OP, not spoil your daughter. Your husband has every right to have an adult-only space in his home and expect boundaries to be respected.

(even with toilet emergencies if the hall bath is occupied, she should always do the courtesy of knocking)

Because he's the only dude in the house.

My DD is too young for it to matter now but when I lived with my parents, I tended to avoid their bathroom except in unusual circumstances. I just felt that it was their bathroom so would only use it if there was some reason I couldn't use mine. I don't remember them ever setting any limits on it though. I also didn't really spend time hanging out in their bedroom either and it wasn't that I was not allowed in there.
So I can understand where the OPs DH is coming from- if the daughter has her own bathroom that is functional and not occupied, then why doesn't she just use that one?

Hahaha, I have 6 bathrooms and we still let the kids use ours but it's easier to go to another one.

It only bothers me if I'm in there...or if I have a curling iron or something that's still cooling and could hurt them.

19:13 here- just wanted to add- I think part of the reason that I didn't usually use their bathroom was because I wanted to avoid an awkward situation where Mom or Dad assume their bathoorm is empty eventhough the door is closed and walk in on me using the toilet or the situation where they come into their room to change (or do anything that I dont want to see) and then I would have to let them know that I am in the bathroom.

That's kind of funny. Poor sister though, dealing with the seat up.

They ask permission first. I basically always say yes, but they were trained to first say, "Mom I'm borrowing your conditioner," or something.

Ha ha ha, this is hilarious. My kids LOVE our master bathroom. No idea why. They bathe in the hall bathroom, but heaven forbid they actually use it for any other purpose. Even if they wake up in the middle of the night to pee, they walk right past the hall bathroom (door open, light on) and into our dark bedroom, to open our master bathroom and turn on the light and use the toilet in there.
