Only if you leave your infant out in the yard by itself at night.

I will continue my search for solutions.

OP, by "aggressive", do you mean that it rushed towards you and growled? Or that it didn't run off when it yelled at you?

If you want to keep raccoons out of your yard, you're going to have to put up some serious, heavy-duty fencing, or keep a big dog or two outside, or shoot them.

Mix vinegar and hot sauce in a spray bottle. Spray decks, fences, garden boxes etc. be prepared to spray after every rain.

DH pees behind our shed once a week to keep the critters from setting up shop in the space between the shed and e fence.

I have seen fox, deer, possom, raccoon, squirrel, groundhog, chipmunk, rabbit, at least 2 dozen bird species, evidence of moles, feral cat.... I have always liked the idea that they were able to figure out how to live as we have expanded into their territory.

Feral cats are not wildlife. They are domesticated animals who, through not fault of their own, were not acclimated to humans as kittens. Given a better shot at life a feral cat would much rather be living the good life indoors.

I have two suggestions. Soak a rag in vinegar and leave it in places where it is semi protected from the elements. Now this next one you just have to trust me on. Buy several bars of Irish spring bar soap. Impale them on short sticks and spread them around the yard. These will keep deer. At bay. The vinegar will bother most animals but doesn't last as long and the smell might bother you too.

I hope OP does this. The 'wild animals' lived there before you did. You owe them.

LOVE this.

My dad does this too, but I just thought it was because he drinks a lot and might be getting senile.

Who knew he was looking for environmentally friendly ways to keep the possums at bay

You need to get a condo. Also you sound like a bimbo.

What is it about Irish spring?

Are you serious OP?

I grew up with a yard that bordered a state forest. We had tons of squirrels, birds, rabbits, and deer. We even had the occasional fox or coyote.

Somehow we survived. Imagine that.

Wild animals have to live somewhere. A fence may help somewhat, but you're still going to encounter some of them. Its also typical for animals that live in close proximity to humans to be fairly used to humans and not too scared of them. However, most will not approach you if you are out and about in the yard.
