Why do people hate Anne Hathaway?

I think she is beautiful and a perfectly fine actress. As someone else said, she's not Meryl Streep, but neither are most actors. She reminds me of Julia Roberts, also a great beauty. I don't understand the hate. It's very strange. If you don't like her, don't see her movies. I haven't seen a Mel Gibson movie in years, and that is my choice. But I don't go around moaning about how I hate him. I just don't watch anything he's in. It's not that hard.

There's an element of misogyny to the Anne Hathaway hate, because can you imagine people being so nasty about disliking a male actor? The closest we have is the national obsession with Jon Hamm's penis, which is just sad but also upsetting to him.

Good point, but he has done some really weird shit to get to this point, don't you think? Same with someone like Mel Gibson. I don't think Anne Hathaway has done nearly as much crazy shit but she gets so much hate. I don't even like her that much, but I don't see any reason to passionately hate her, either!

I don't think I have ever seem something she has been in, but I saw her in NY, and she was much prettier in person; however, she was making sure everyone knew it was her & kept looking around to make sure she was getting attention, which she really wasn't. I didn't even know who she was at the time (my friend had to tell me) but thought she was so insecure & annoying!

I dislike Mel Gibson after hearing some of what he has to say off screen. I don't talk about hating him, but I quote his most awful statements and make fun of him.
