Usually I do Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes and gravy, like at Ikea.

But today for the first time, I am doing meatballs in tomato sauce with linguine!

I love the meatball sub idea but if you need a break from marinara, there are German dishes that use either a white sauce with capers or a lemon sauce, and then serve with mashed potatoes or buttered egg noodles.

Rice, grilled pineapple & peppers, and a ginger soy glaze
Or
Mushroom gravy and egg noodles

A form of pasta, but have you already considered tortellini or ravioli?

I have meatballs cooking now -- in tomato sauce. But we won't do pasta. We love a bowl of meatballs and sauce with some good crusty garlic bread and a big salad. Yum incoming, as my son likes to say!

I just made meatballs other then with pasta. My husband & I are trying to lay off the bread, pastas, go with a lot less potatoes too. So I had to come up with a new way for meatballs. What I did was saute them in a skillet sprayed with non cooking spray & a little vegetable oil. I then drained the oil off. And since the skillet I used is oven proof on the meatballs, I sprinkled some garlic pepper, topped that with mozzarella shredded cheese & then some Italian seasoning. I then put the oven on about 200 for only enough time to melt the cheese since the meat was already cooked (I used frozen meatballs - Armor Brand-the best frozen ones). By the time everything else was done the cheese was melted & ready to serve. They were pretty good too. If one would like a sauce of some kind would go with this too.

Me too. Sometimes with a little dish of marinara with Parmesan.
