Of the responders who identified their ethnicity so far, 8 are white and 12 are not. Does that seem representative to you? The issue isn't that no whites will answer, it is that more nonwhites will answer, and many whites will not even read the thread. |
I don't know the term "Cone Head" except for Saturday Night Live back in the 80s. Is there something I'm missing? I assumed the poster was just being funny. |

Because? |
Because everyone doesn't read and respond to every thread. No matter how important it might be to you. AA Male - NOVA |
Assumption of white as the cultural norm, so less of a desire to stand up and be counted, assuming there are so many white that it won't matter if they don't chime in, less overall thought of or comfort with discussing race issues, etc. Any number of reasons. |
Why would you assume that everyone on here is white? Haven't you been reading the posts? It's obvious to me that there is a pretty good representation of all races/ethnicities and locations. I've been on DCUM for 2 years and have a totally different assumption than you do. AA-Male-Fairfax County |

I didn't find anything offensive or hateful about the term "Cone Head". Especially when used to describe oneself. The "Why the hate?" comment must have been extra sensitive today. |
I think you are making silly assumptions and it sounds a little racist to me. |
