Is there a generic for Focalin XR?

why do they charge me the same price for generic as for non generic? $ 40 for both, isnt generic cheaper?

Just went to get Focalin XR and a 30-day supply is $272. Is this normal? The generic is $10. Focalin XR has worked well, but at this price difference, we'll try generic. I just looked at the inactive ingredients list for both and the generic brand has a lot more fillers. Has anyone experienced a difference between the two? Thanks.

Google this -- I think the FDA recently issued a warning about the generic versions of some of the XR drugs not actually being equivalent. It was either Concerta or Focalin. I would take this to your insurer and see if you can get the non-generic covered. It's probably that your insurance covers generic but not non-generics, and you need to prove to them that they are not equivalent.

FWIW (and I've posted about this previously), I definitely see a difference in different generic versions of Adderrall XR. I thought I was crazy until I saw the FDA warning about the other XR drug.

Interesting. Just googled and the FDA dropped a bombshell in 2014 about the discrepancy between Concerta and generic brands. That begs the question about other XR generic drugs and potency/quality.

We tried the generic. The difference was night and day. We are now gritting our teeth and paying for the brand.
