What are these wonderful things, I can't think of any?

The Special Olympics, for one. Years and years of public service.

The Peace Corps. Headstart.

Head Start was LBJ, part of Great Society.

Yes, which was created by the Office of Economic Opportunity, headed by Sargent Shriver.

I know it has been a while since the passing of Kara Kennedy and I would just like to take a few minutes to express my feelings about this beautifull young lady and her family. I myself served as a police officer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for some 28 years and on many occasion I was assigned to details in and around the John F. Kennedy Library in Dorchester, Massachusetts. I served on two presidentail details involving the then sitting president, President William Jefferson Clinton to this Columbia Point area of Boston. As far as I am concerned the Kennedy family were always so nice to all of us cops that worked those events. For instance, in 1981 I was fresh out of the police academy and I got assigned to escort/protect Teddy Kennedy at the University of Massachusetts graduation in Boston. I had a blast with Teddy, he was so nice to me and I will never forget the time that I spent with Sen, Kennedy and his aid. As far as the rest of the Kennedy clan, I can say that that they were always respectfull to all of us guys in the BLUE. To Kara, I think I and alot of other good people know how much you ment to your mother and father and I know that you are with God now and forever. So believe me when I say this, the next time that I am over to Holyhood cemetary in Brookline to visit my families grave site I will walk down the road a bit and say a prayer at your resting place. To the rest of the Kennedy family, thanks for all the laughs I had over the years, you guys put a smile on my face so many times. God Bless All Of You.

I agree they have done great things but it doesn't give them a "pass" on the bad things.

Yes and thank you for that input, we are all equal in the eyes of our creator, but on earth money talks and you know what walks. I am a firm believer of whats good for you should be good for me and everyone else in the eyes of the law. Thanks again.

"Don't let the do nothings take away from the rest of us."

LOVE this! SO very true! Whether you like the Kennedys or not.

More of a reason she should not have smoked.

I don't believe that the Kennedy Family should skate through life with some of the things that they have done on the unlawfull side, but who am I to pass judgement on them. I will say one thing and that is that Kara Kennedy deserves the upmost respect in her death and her chidren have to deal with the loss of their mother for the rest of their lives. Kara was a good person who did not have to be taken away from her family at the age of 51. Please have some sence of respect for this women who cannot defend or speak for herself. May she rest in peace.

I think people want her cancer to be smoking related so they can tell themselves "it must have been her fault. that kind of thing would never happen to me."

The truth is, most cancers cannot be linked with certainty to a behavior.

LOL

I think the responses here are VERY telling.

A perfectly legitimate question was asked about whether Kara Kennedy smoked or not. And most of you (presumably white American ladies) immediately defended her as some kind of saint.

I don't think I've ever met a more neurotic, weak, fearful group of people in the world than white American women. And your responses here prove it.

I think most white American women are hyper-sensitive about very reasonable questions, like whether or not a fellow WAM smoked. I think most WAM can't handle the thought of personal accountability, blame, and responsibility. This is why they (you) circle the wagons, get defensive, and attack those who merely want to know whether or not a WAM behaved in a way that led to her death.

It's pretty obvious that most WAM can't handle being criticized for unhealthy, unwise behavior. It's quite unique among women the world over.

I don't think I've met a more neurotic, hyper-sensitive, paranoid, fearful group of people than white American women.
