What do you think about Stella and Dot jewelry?

It looks cuter than that crap from Silpadia. I see one of my friends on fb is a Silpadia rep and is obsessed with the junk. I can't help but judge.

Hey ladies - I'm so sorry to hear some of you have had less than stellar experiences at a Stella & Dot trunk show and/or were unsatisfied with the jewelry you bought. I would just say, don't close the book completely on S&D. Stella & Dot has been recognized in many notable fashion magazines like In Style, WWD, Lucky, O Magazine, and many more. Fashion editors & celebrities have really embraced Stella & Dot.

Whatever...the only people on here that claim to "love" this jewelry are stylists. Out of the 6 pieces i bought, 5 had to be returned because of missing stones, broken clasps and gold that turned green/black, even before I have ever worn it. Even though some of the Stella and Dot pieces are pretty, it is very bad quality. Silpada is better quality, but it's just so damn ugly.
As for celebrities....they only wear a piece of costume jewelry once, so the quality won't matter so much.
Bottom line: its expensive, bad quality and disappointing.

Oh. and remember, Brittany Spears is a celebrity and she also has a stylist. doesn't mean she has style...........

Thanks for the PR bite. I personally don't have as big of a problem with the quality of the S&D jewelry as I do with the way it's sold. You S&D stylists need to learn to take "no" for an answer, especially when asking a "friend" to host a party for you. I don't see how my hosting a party for you to sell your crap to my friends is in any way "fun," "rewarding," or "a treat for myself." If it's so much fun, please stick to hosting your own parties instead of harassing other people to do it for you!

Wow I am so sad to hear that so many women feel disappointed with Stella & Dot. Many of us, Stylists, do not want to come off as being too pushy and bless your hearts I know what it's like to want to "shop without being harassed." Have you mentioned to the Stylist that has been "harassing" you that you want her to stop?

If so, I would. And again, I'm so sorry to hear your experience was not so good.

Also, customers are welcome to return merchandise that is not to your quality standard. The home office is very nice about processing returns, as should the stylist who you ordered from.

As with anything, sometimes some pieces get passed through the Quality Inspection stage when they shouldn't have. But that's in no way you, the customer's, fault. Please inform your stylist, she can process returns (I know this because I am a stylist).

I have returned many pieces from stella and dot. The problem is... For most of the pieces, u only have 3 months to return them.. After that u are just stuck with the crap u paid a lot of money for. I am very unhappy with s&d, i have been a big supporter because my friend sells it, but from the 10 people that attended my s&d party, 9 of them had to return jewelry that had defects or missing stones. 9!!!!!!!!! Frankly.. I am SO embarrassed! Never again!
Bad quality, pure crap.

Wow, if by "some pieces pass through the quality inspection stage when they shouldnt have", you actually meant "90% of it passes through it when it shouldnt have" i agree.
I think stella&dot should take a serious look at their product quality and the obscene prices they charge for this junk. I have no problem with some of the designs, but if i have to hear about another friend of mine who owns a piece that fell apart in 2 seconds after purchasing it, its going to drive me crazy.
Bad product.

I like the style of Stella and Dot and Silpada jewelry, but I HATE being invited to those "parties" (they are really just sales events). People come out of the woodwork that I haven't spoken to in months, and invite me to things when I've never even been to their house socially for any other reason.

If I want to shop I will go to the mall or go with a friend somewhere, but don't pimp out this crap to me and act like we are best buds. Get a real job.

Also ask yourself, would a man ever do something like this to his friends and call it a job?

I have recently been introduced to Stella&Dot and am glad to be able to read people's opinions on the jewelry. I agree that often ALL sales people can be pushy whether in a mall or from direct sales but some of the complaints about the jewelry on this forum are slightly ridiculous. I own pieces from Tiffanys, David Yurman, Swarovski, etc. and if items are not GOLD which most pieces in the Stella&Dot collection do not claim to be will turn color if you don't take care of it (for example you cannot shower in it, which is also true for most jewelry). Also, any stone that is made out of CZ or crystal is typically glued on with a special epoxy to stay in the setting so these will often fall out if you wash them or wear them EVERY day. I do not work for Stella&Dot but just want people to understand that costume jewelry is just that, costume. They are not meant to be precious pieces to pass down to your children they are meant for fun, if the price points are too high for fun then don't purchase it.

I've gone to a couple parties and the jewelry is ok, there is a wide variety and most people can find something to like. However, I think its overpriced for what it is. But, I don't have time to shop for jewelry for myself, so I don't completely mind feeling forced to buy something for myself once a year. But I'm not going to a party if its not convenient and I don't really like the person hosting. Luckily none of my friends sell it. I would much rather just go to a happy hour.

Yes, of course. Ever heard of Amway?

I agree, poor quality. I was out with friends and we were laughing about Stella and Dot bracelets falling a part. At least with Silpada you have a life time guarantee. They can't offer the life time gtee at S & D as they would have to replace the the items too often and they would go out of business. LOL!!!!!
