Around what ages are teens getting sexually active nowadays?

I think kids with time on their hands get into more trouble - sex, vaping, depression, social drama etc. I see this with kids in our MS.

You can keep them busy if you want, just don't overschedule them, that's a big problem within itself. At any rate, if kids want to have sex, experiment with drugs/alcohol they're going to find a way.

we can debate this all day long, but by default the less time kids have on their hands the less time they have to engage in risky behavior. Its simple math.

Ask Asian young adults in their early 20’s what their thoughts are on keeping them busy to keep them “perfect”

Ask them about their scroll of mental health issues

With that logic, the more extracurriculars, the more time outside the house so more opportunities to engage in sexual behavior at sports facilities, bathrooms, buses, etc. Ridiculous, no?

It’s much more common to do oral today. Kids thinks it’s not sex; no big deal. Similar with anal; it’s not “real” sex plus no pregnancy risks, and, why not?

Agree it’s most common among the really popular / attractive / athletic kids, especially when it’s like a single parent household, and there’s time and a safe place to do it.

Obviously there is a lot of space between doing nothing (which tons of middle school kids do nothing outside of school and then get off pretty early in teh day) and having every minute filled. But you knew that. Mine is happier and a better version of himself being busy and also needs down time and friend time, which he for sure gets.

NP. I don't know. The ones I know of in the middle school already into all the things have a whole lot of time on their hands in pretty lightly supervised environments.

Not saying other kids don't find a way if they are so inclined.

This is similar to what I have seen as well. The kids with lots of time on their hands and inadequate supervision, are into all sorts of things (and not just sex, vaping, drinking, etc.). The ones with lots of time on their hands but parents who don't try to be their friends are considerably less likely to engage in all fo the above.

I don't agree with this at all. First, you're lumping vaping, drinking, and sex together. I don't see them as similar at all UNLESS you're dealing with promiscuity. It is normal for teens to date and also normal for teens to have sex. The CDC says more than half of teens have had sex before 18. Are you seriously thinking that more than half the teens are inadequately supervised and that is why they have had sex?

People are talking about middle school kids. Read the posts you're responding to.

I don’t agree with this. I think it’s more like 25% and maybe higher in other versions of sex. It’s definitely increasing and the crazy part as a middle school teacher is just how brazen they all talk about it now.

DS was 17 - varsity sport, club sport, rec sport, 10 AP classes in HS, full time summer job...GF of 2y... evidently, they found time.

People. Stop responding to posts with information or opinions about older teens when you are in a thread talking about 12-15 year olds. Is this happening over and over because the posts are collapsed? People are saying keep 12-15 year olds busy. We can all agree 17 year olds with a girlfriend will find time to have sex.
