Get an egg cooker. Comes out perfect every time. |
There is a whole thing just to cook eggs? Definitely not something my small kitchen needs. |
I like to boil the water first because then you don’t have to stand there waiting.
Cold eggs into boiling water, turn down to simmer, timer for 11 minutes. Perfect every time. |
+1 instant pot |
If you make hard or soft boiled eggs regularly, I can’t recommend this little gadget https://www.amazon.com/Dash-Rapid-Egg-Cooker-Scrambled/dp/B0168CNYRE/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1AD63T4TJG9QP&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.6EgbaYKDagXmbMaQUIVQbby-AOl2hndC9DTTtDmGjer8MVJS-guO0cED0lErin01x_x2Lr-MRQ4eqkhy24AAU9sCzhOs3qJ1bsYFvOVQyIux8H3DLfKRElDMqPKAgOGORlMr9fXkaE9N5Dr84RI8wc6qBeINMzZpaEUTnKV48T8oVH1kLQXZl86Ilj6r2S0vswP37qcIipkLSqMPlKNp-TjqgMQKrok0W9M4hC2SuHU.MjOh2EFp_pKpWpI89EOVybtU20sZMKqvdkewO6Qtep8&dib_tag=se&keywords=hard%2Bboiled%2Begg%2Bcooker&qid=1714001117&sprefix=Hardboild%2Begg%2Caps%2C119&sr=8-3&th=1 enough. They are perfect every time.
When I use a pot, I put them in boiling water for three minutes, then turn off the heat and let sit for 20, then put them in cold water. But the cooker is easier and works every time. |
Here is how to make perfect hard-boiled eggs:
Put a steamer basket into a pan and fill to the bottom of the basket with water. Bring to a boil. Add eggs, cover, and reduce heat to medium; cook for 12-13 minutes. Remove from heat and run under cold water until cooled. The eggs will come out perfectly cooked and easy to peel. |
All of the above can work. I boil them for 10 minutes then turn off the heat for 5-6 minutes. Then put them right in the ice bath. They are perfect every time. |
Put eggs in pot. Fill with cold water. Put the lid on at this point, then put the pot on the burner and bring the water to a boil. Turn off the heat and leave the pot on the burner. Sip coffee for 12 minutes. Prepare bowl of ice water. Come back to the stove. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the eggs to the ice water. Finish coffee leisurely. When eggs are cold, peel them or store them in the fridge.
I’m the queen of deviled eggs, and this is what has always worked for me. |
+1 to the gadget! I'd get varying results when boiling in the pot and they were never quite right. Now I just press the button and walk away until they're done - SO easy and works decently for poached eggs, too. |
Bring water to boil. Add eggs. Low boil 12 minutes. Dunk in ice water. |
Bring water to boil. Gently add eggs w slotted spoon to boiling water. Cook 10 minutes. Turn off burner, put on lid, let stand 10 more minutes. Dump all hot water, cover eggs w/ cold water and peel immediately. I do this every week and get perfectly cooked, easy-to-peel eggs every time. |
Same here. I boil them in actively boiling water for 10-12 minutes. Then put in cold water. Perfect every time. |
Put them in a steaming basket over boiling water for 14 minutes, remove and place in ice water until cool. |
I'm a convert to the instant pot method. It's the only way I can get them consistently easy to peel. |
I like the instant pot method as well. I have also tried them recently on the stove and because we have induction, the timing was slightly different… |
