Credible sources?

The PP literally said "I'm wondering"--are we no longer allowed to just share thoughts?

So, while they were “wondering if this will curb the carjackings” they asserted the last bit as a fact. I’d appreciate credible sources for both bits, but particularly for the part that the PP presented as something more verifiable than their “wonderings”.

We are on a web forum, where we can share held knowledge and/or conjecture, so don’t hold your breath waiting for a cite. If we are only allowed to repeat verbatim what we read on CNN or whatever, then we are wall wasting our time here.

+1 In 2007 a bridge in Minnesota shockingly fell into the Mississippi River, and not because a 984-foot ship from Singapore had a power failure and bumped into that bridge WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHO VIEWS IT AS A THRIVING CITY NECESSARILY, but because the lack of attention to infrastructure in America let it molder. This disaster killed 13 people and injured 140 more. TWO DAYS LATER the U.S. House of Representatives voted unanimously to provide $250M of federal funds to replace the bridge and the Senate then confirmed it using only a voice vote. Curious to see what happens later this week in 2024, considering the House of Representatives a) has zero interest in governing; b) has even less interest in solving America’s problems; c) is on vacation for at least ten more days; d) has trouble gathering a quorum without concern about Hunter Biden; and e) has a majority who worships a cult leader who WHILE PRESIDENT of Baltimore and the rest of America called the city of Baltimore a “rodent infested mess.”

I do however share your hope for federal funding and significant benefits.

There are several right wingers, including from Minnesota, who are criticizing Biden for offering Federal aid with this.

There won';t be any more or less of a competitive disadvantage than there is now. The Bridge is virtually unrelated where the Port is concerned.

This guy is from PA...what was his response to the I-95 Bridge fire/collapse in Philly?

No way. When a new bridge is built, it will likely be a cable-stayed or suspension span with protected towers much further away from the main shipping channel.

Those are maintenance nightmares. Also, what about the airport?

BWI?

The Key Bridge is no where near the flight path for that.

None of the main runways aim towards it.

Yes, I agree with all of this. I didn’t realize that it will be fully federally funded. That’s great for the city, the county, and the state.

The Feds will basically guarantee funding to get the reconstruction started asap. But there will still be insurance, liability etc. involved.

No current flight paths. Plan for the future. Don't build a giant spider web to catch low-flying aircraft.

Dude, those statements are LITERALLY non-controversial and well known. You must not follow any news. This has been reported on FREQUENTLY.

If those Minnesota right wingers were left to run the country we'd be back to dirt roads and horse and buggy if you're lucky.

Would it really have been so damn hard for the "credible sources" PP above to just do a simple search rather than go on blast? Literally only takes less than a minute.

I’m not holding my breath. I AM, however, curious. Sure, people can say whatever they want. As a former resident of Baltimore, I’m surprised by PP’s comments, and would genuinely like more information —if it’s available.

Thank you for these links. I haven’t followed the Baltimore-focused news in several years, so the previous post caught my attention. No “great affront”. Quite a bit of curiosity. Again, thank you for posting these links.

“Go on blast?” I asked for information— if the PP had it at hand. I appreciate the links that a PP posted. Done.

How will food prices be affected by the Baltimore port closure? Maybe food doesn’t come through there but don’t a lot of farm machines pass through that port?
