He was far too weak and ineffective at fighting gun control. His departure paves the way for a true champion of the Second Amendment to emerge; a real fighter who will effect major change.

Ineffective? Given that there are more guns than people in this country and that there has been no meaningful gun control despite all the horrific school shootings, what kind of "major change" are you looking at? Even more guns? Zero gun control of any kind? Military-grade weapons for every citizen in the country? What more do you want that you don't already have? I don't get it.

You have it backwards.

The NRA isn’t driving the gun nuts. The gun nuts are driving the NRA. Most gun nuts think the NRA doesn’t go far enough.

I get that but what more do the gun nuts want? I mean, they've won. What does more winning look like?

From what I read here, they desperately want the “libs” to come for the guns. They are so so so disappointed that hasn’t happened. They write made up posts here all the time about it.

And before any of you comes bleating "hurr de durr lib witch hunt hur durr" it was nothing of the sort. INSIDE WHISTLEBLOWERS within NRA got fed up with the corruption and stealing. As has been the case with the Trump legal cases as well.

La Pierre has always been smarmy. All you needed was to just look at him and you knew he was a crook. I sincerely hope this has a huge effect on the NRA's power in preventing significant gun legislation.

I guess only because that “charity’s” “mission” is at odds with anything beneficial to culture am I confused about this. Like if you give money to the NRA, why would you expect them to do something good with it? It’s as if someone bought hardcore drugs, you couldn’t expect the dealer to do something benevolent with the money, it’s evil.

But also of course they’re corrupt.

The NRA isn’t as powerful as people think it is. These GOP lawmakers willingly want us to live in a country where guns are everywhere. They believe more = better. Why can’t people accept how deeply radicalized the party has become. Not because they are being blackmailed, but it’s who they are. They want Americans to live in fear and divided because it helps them politically.

Let him. People are stupid to contribute to these grifters. If they want to throw their hard earn money to a corrupt snake oil saleman, who are we to stop them. Of course, then they will claim that they can't afford stuff because "inflation".

Stupid is as stupid does.

I think a lot of old time R politicians were also bought by the NRA a long time ago. Now, the gun culture is much more deeply entrenched just as populism is now deeply entrenched in the R party.

+1. You can’t fight stupid and that’s less money they have to buy another AK47 that they fail to keep locked up and that their kids find and bring to the playground to play with and accidentally shoot their friend.

It’s funny how when right wing terrorists are called on their crap, suddenly law enforcement is all Democrats pursing witch hunts. You guys were using your “charity” to fund the NRA’s lobbying. That’s something you should be called on.
