Anesthesia for FET

I have heard banging the embryo around in the catheter can kill it
The anesthesia they use will be out of your system before the embryo implants, don't give it a second thought

I used RMA in New York and was never given a sedation option for my transfers. They did a mock transfer before my cycle to check my uterus. I’ve had two transfers and they both took no time at all.

Im confused why anyone would need anesthesia for a FET? I had anesthesia for my egg retrieval of course, also when I had my wisdom teeth out and I had epidurals “early” in my labors so I’m not at all opposed to pain management, but I had no idea it was even an option for transfers. I guess for complicated uterus situation or a very squeamish patient?

We tried out my threshold for a speculum today but she explained it would need to be in for 5 min on a good day. And that we could do Valium but at that point anesthesia might be best.

She feels like if we run into placement issues or my cervix is acting funny that it will prolong the pain for me. Under anesthesia she will be able to place it and we won't have the time restraint of getting me over the hump and the embryo being out too long.

I'm trying to find data to support anesthesia for FET and the outcomes. Anyone go under and have success?

Use twilight as others have already suggested.
