Very good point about Phil Bredesen. He won reelection as governor in 2006 with 69% of the vote and then lost the race for senate in 2018 by over 10 points. That’s a 50-point swing. And 2018 was a blue wave election. |
It’s only April and the campaign hasn’t even begun yet. Because Roe v Wade was overturned, by Election Day Maryland Democrats, especially female Democrats, will be very focused on lifetime Supreme Court appointments. And Larry Hogan has promised to block all of Joe Biden’s nominees and almost certainly would provide the deciding vote for anyone nominated by Donald Trump. |
I guess this is how the election is going to go, a bunch of people lying about Larry Hogan. He has made no such promises to do any of the things that you say. I guess complaining about how he led Maryland to decreased unemployment, more revenue, balanced budgets, supported more road construction, canceled the Baltimore Red Line or that he approved the Purple Line amid significant Democratic pressure isn’t getting you the traction you thought among voters? |
Hogan will absolutely block Biden's Supreme Court nominees. This is unfortunately the predictable path of every Republican Senator, and thinking that Hogan will stand up to the Trump mob is wishful thinking. I suppose anything is possible, but why even take that chance? Isn't it just easier to vote for the candidate who certainly won't vote to erode our rights, as opposed to just hoping and praying that Hogan won't be disastrous? |
Hogan promised to caucus with Republicans. That means that Biden’s Supreme Court nominees won’t get a vote if Republicans have a majority. And there’s no chance in hell Larry Hogan would give Democrats the 51st vote against one of Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominees. |
Yeah I’ve seen this movie before. It was called “Susan Collins”. I didn’t like it the first time. |
I'm not a committed Hogan voter but if he were to win, Congress would be gaining the type of person we want and need serving in high level government positions. Hogan is a Republican but not a partisan politician. We need more of these in Congress. |
Sounds good in theory. However, in reality the SC Justices who overturned Roe were confirmed by “moderates” like Susan Collins and Jeff Flake. Who cares about process when the result is exactly the same? |
You could just as easily blame RBG and Democrats for failing in their responsibility. I am not going to vote for someone who will not represent my state effectively because Sonia Sotomayor has too big of an ego. |
+1 I don’t understand it either. They prefer the Republican who would give them 30% of what they want over the Democrat who would give them 100% of what they want. |
Because "voting to confirm justices who lied about their intention to overturn Roe v Wade" is just exactly like "being unable to stop the confirmation of justices who lied about their intention to overturn Roe v Wade?" Yeah, no. |
Someone who grifts and who hates urban areas and the people who live in them? No, that's not the type of person we want and need serving in high-level government positions. |
Why doesn’t Biden and Democrats ask Sotomayor to step down now so that they can appoint a successor? Why is she intent to be incapacitated/die in the court? If you are so concerned about the impact of one supreme court appointment, it is funny how little you care about Sotomayor (and RBG before her) putting ego over our rights. You seem to care more about partisanship than rights. |
Hogan represents his state not your SimCity save. Maryland has one major city with a declining population representing less than 10% of the state that is a drag on state resources. |
The DNC's best tool is to hope and pray that the stars align in their favor. No strategy other than begging for votes and fearmongering. Pick better candidates. |
