The Harbor School in Bethesda

Can anyone share any information about the Harbor school in terms of the quality of the teachers for Kindergarten, is it a religious based school, are they nurturing?

not religious; mediocre teaching staff

Can you elaborate any more about the staff? Just not staff or you weren't impressed? Do you know how it compares to Primary Day or Concord Hill?

Do you have first-hand experience with the Harbor School?

We do. It has been a dynamic, nurturing environment for DC. The teachers and administrators are invested in helping each student live up to his or her potential. They are focused on early childhood development and they know what they are doing. I can't imagine a better environment for DC.

Academically both those schools are stronger than harbor. Traditionally Pds sends lots of kids to Landon, Hilton and sidwell. concord hill ends in 3rd so in can be a good school for tHose interested in St albans and not going to besuvoir.

Check the exmissions for the school. If you see yourself staying private, it wil.tell you what schools kids aim for.

Harbor's exmissions last year included Holton, twice over.

By twice over do you mean 2. PDS usually sends bet. 8 and 10.

Harbor School is smaller than those other schools - something most view as an advantage, in that it leads to more individualized attention.

We were at Harbor several years ago. We loved the low key, down to earth families, small class sizes and individualized attential our child received. The Head of School is outstanding. Harbor has more of a mix of families who go on to public and private compared to PDS and Concord Hill. Kids go on to Norwood, Holton, Green Acres, Grace, Landon, St Andrew's and their local schools, as I recall.

... add Bullis to the list above.
