What is your guess on this man's net worth?

Anonymous

The man is a millionaire, but could anyone good with numbers estimate the minimum of his net worth by those facts alone:

The man can afford to take on vacation his entire family, which would include renting 4 apartments in a five star hotel for at least a week (noninclusive); unlimited room service etc., plane tickets...The man can afford that more than once a year.

The man gives in cash between 8,000 and 10,000 to his 2 children monthly.

The man pays the credit cards of his (grown) children every month--they buy food and clothes with those and other expenses that one may describe as pocket expenses. (The man has no debt, so these expenses are paid off monthly.)

Please fill in the blank with your guess. The man must have a minimum net worth of $___000,000.

Give us a clue: did he have a company or work for a company that was bought out or went public in the last 10 years?

He is a retired lawyer (retired about 5 years ago) who was the GC of a big company...Don't know much about the company as it is an overseas company.

not sure but can he adopt me?

I don't get this query. Are you just curious of what this man's net worth must be to provide this level of support for his family?

Why? Jealous?

Dear PP, your understanding is not required.

It's very hard to say because some people are frugal and some people are spendy. What you can afford and what you are willing to pay are different.

I wouldn't take vacations like that unless I had at least 10 million in the bank. Some people would do it with one million.

He could be on the road to bankruptcy, you never know. Lots of people with high net worth are very low key, lots of nearly-bankrupt people live in the flashy way you describe. No way to know without access to his accounts.

Consider that he is not flashy. Drives a 20,000 car, same for wife. No Gucci or Rolex on him or wife. No blink-blink. Likes to enjoy life but is a conservative spender. So is the wife.

This is a stupid question. Net worth is assets (which includes things like real estate) less liabilities and since you say that the man has no debt and is spending several thousand a month in cash (bc he has no debt) what you really want to know is his monthly income. Knowing his net worth will not tell you this bc not all assets produce income at the same rate.

OP here again, and no, he is NOT on the road to bankruptcy.

Bling-bling?

Those vacations don't sound conservative but the cars sound sensible. We're like that. We'd have to have at least 8 million in the bank before we did those things.

OP here. I agree my question is very stupid. Nevertheless, I asked it. Yes, it has to do with income per month...I gather is from interest. The man is liquid. No real estate involved, no rents, as far as I know.

I would guess part stock dividends part interest from cash in swiss banks. There is def swiss bank income involved. Just not sure how.

My guess would be that he gets in interest every month a minimum of 30,000 USD. And that is a minimum. But I am not familiar what cash reserve in a swiss bank would yield that kind of income. I just do not know.

Sorry, auto-correct issue. "Bling-bling" not "Blink-blink"...

He may not be flashy but I would be concerned that he is raising his children to be parasites. Please tell me that they have jobs and are well-grounded and don't have to depend on Dad's money for their emotional/financial survival.
