Because: 1. I don’t believe you; 2. Your statement is meaningless without proof; and 3. The timeframe matters. Twenty years ago, Ivies had admissions rates that climbed above 20%. That fact is completely irrelevant to college applicants now. |
DP. Sidwell mom - noone but you apparently really cares about MC or Bama and thank you for showing your true colors as you look down your nose at kids college choices which are often based on family finances (gasp) or personal situations (gasp). |
GDS was Obamas first choice btw |
Ok, MoCo. 🙄 |
You and GDS wish. There are articles where Michelle Obama clearly states that Sidwell was their family’s first choice. Seethe! |
^ Sidwell was her family’s first choice. |
Obamas loved GDS and its mission and history. Definitely was their first choice. |
She was being polite and did not want to offend her kids' school community but I had always heard GDS was their first choice, then NCS as they contemplated single sex (as Gore's daughters went there) then Sidwell. |
I distinctly remember articles saying the Obamas only considered co-ed schools, which also included Maret. Whether GDS or Sidwell was there first choice is a different matter, but apparently their daughters had been pretty set on Sidwell from the beginning, since Biden's granddaughters were already there. I also don't think they would have toured GDS to begin with if the L/MS campus didn't work. |
Nope. That’s fan fiction, but it doesn’t matter. Malia and Sasha will forever be Sidwell alums. Deal with it. |
Lol—the Obamas didn’t even bother to tour NCS. Some of you are really reaching today. “A number of great schools were considered,” Lelyveld said. “In the end, the Obamas selected the school that was the best fit for what their daughters need right now.” The selection comes after weeks of speculation about whether President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, would choose a public or private school. Michelle Obama toured Sidwell Friends and Georgetown Day School two weeks ago by herself and then again earlier this week with her daughters and her mother, who will be moving to Washington with the Obama family. https://www.politico.com/story/2008/11/and-the-winner-is-sidwell-friends-015878 |
Eric Holder recommended GDS to them because of the school's unique history among Washington privates. |
The Obama’s response: Thanks, but no thanks! On a serious note, GDS has a great and admirable founding story. However, that’s often not enough to move the needle when parents are making decisions about where and how to educate their children. |
BIM was rated #1 in the DMV, as PP posted. Sidwell and GDS were #2 and #3 respectively. Big 3/5 refers to the DMV, not DC specifically. |
+1. Lots of Sidwell and GDS kids live in Va and MD. |
