Sheraton vs. Marriott?

We are trading our timeshare and looking at both Sheraton and Marriott locations in Orlando. Which is nicer? We stayed at Marriott before near Miami and it was pretty nice, updated, clean, etc.

I haven't been to either one but I had heavy business travel for many years, and I found that the following were consistently good, nationwide: Marriott, Hyatt, and Westin. Everything else was too variable. I'd go with the Marriott.

They really can vary from place to place so you would need to look at location. Some Marriotts are nicer and newer and some are older and rather dated, and the same goes for Sheraton. IMO, I would also look at other properties within the same chain - i.e. Westin is part of Sheraton, but tends to be higher end, the same with Renaissance hotels which are part of Marriott. My husband has traveled on business to Orlando quite a bit and likes the Autograph collection hotel there by Marriott. It is downtown, though, not near Disney if that is what you want.

Marriott is better. Hands down. I had family go to Florida and use a Sheraton timeshare. They ended up with lice. Just sayin...

Does it have to be Sheraton or Marriott? Because Wyndham's Bonnet Creek resort is GREAT, especially if you're headed to Disney.

I got a Marriott rewards card (with three free nights!) last year and have been happy with every hotel we've stayed at (Marriott, Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, etc.). I haven't stayed at Sheratons, but did just stay at a Hyatt Place, which was also good.

I've generally liked Starwood properties (Westin, Sheraton, etc.) more than Marriott, but it really is location-specific. Look them up on trip advisor?

We are devoted Marriott customers and I agree that, more often than not, they are superior to Sheraton's. Although I have less experience with them, the Hyatt's that I have stayed in are comparable to the Marriott's.

I've researched resorts in Orlando and stayed at a few in Florida. Not sure if the ones I researched were time shares or not. Some of the Marriott's resort properties are particularly nice, they do a good job with family friendly pools and landscaping especially. The Sheraton Lake Buena Vista and the Vistana resorts (waterfall + zero entry pool) both look pretty nice though. Marriott's Harbour Lake looks great for kids. We are all about the pool.
